Who stars cast in Outlander season 6?
Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire Randall Fraser, Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser, Richard Rankin, who plays Roger Wakefield, and Sophie Skelton, who plays Brianna Randall, will all be back for the new season. Ian Fraser Murray, played by John Bell, will also be back.
Nevertheless, Duncan Lacroix will not be returning as Jamie’s godfather Murtagh because he passed away in Season 5.
Mark Lewis Jones, Alexander Vlahos, and Jessica Reynolds are just a few of the new cast members who have committed to appearing in Season 6. The trio will portray the Christie brothers, Tom, Allan, and Malva.
Allan and Malva Christie are their father’s offspring, while Tom Christie is the de facto leader of a group of Protestant settlers. Because of how close Malva becomes to Claire and how her perspective on the world changes, their relationship is bound to be interesting.
One key member of the production team has already been confirmed to not be returning for season 6.
Production designer Jon Gary Steele will leave Outlander after the fifth season finale airs in May 2020, the cast and crew have confirmed.
Outlander season 6 plot
Despite the looming threat of the American Civil War, Outlander season 6 remains focused on the Fraser family on Fraser’s Ridge.
What’s more, there’s a swarm of newcomers on the way.
Faith is a significant subject in season 6, according to Richard Rankin, who plays Jamie’s son-in-law Roger MacKenzie, as he explained to RadioTimes.com. As the show progresses, viewers may expect to see religious themes introduced and have their beliefs challenged.
Roger doubts Tom Christie’s ability to teach and maintain discipline among the community members because of his extreme piety. You can just tell that animosity between the Christies and the Frasers/MacKenzies is going to rise right off the bat.
While everything is happening, Claire will continue to fight the demons that have plagued her since she was abducted and raped at the conclusion of season 5.
“Even before we filmed it, we had already started the conversations about how vital it was to see the recovery and the consequences,” remembered Caitriona Balfe when speaking to RadioTimes.com. That was a big deal to me, and I really appreciate that our writers were willing to devote a lot of screen time to it.
Whether or not you look to be strong on the outside, something like this will truly shock you to your core, and I think it’s vital that we see a character like Claire, who often gets this name of being a’strong female,’ go through that. Though Claire has always been able to put her past experiences in a box and go on, we now witness her struggle with PTSD and make some mistakes on the road to recovery.
Despite Claire’s suffering, Jamie and Claire remain supportive of one another and are “as in love with one other today as they were from the get-go.”
Brianna, played by Skelton, will be battling her own demons in upcoming episodes after learning at the end of Season 5 that her assailant is still alive and possibly still on the hunt for her.
“Brianna’s pretty much been through everything a human could go through,” Skelton said to Deadline. “But I know that next season there will be so much more happening that will make it interesting to see what we’ve got, what the authors do, because it’s usually wonderful,” she said.
In addition to Jamie’s family not being the only time travellers, Brianna found out in the season 5 finale that she has a half-brother named William. Though it appears likely, some storylines may not get resolved until season 6.
