The Japanese national broadcaster NHK shocked the world with the revelation of the sudden resignation of PM Shinzo Abe citing his worsening health conditions. The two visits within a week to the hospital fanned speculations about the health condition and tenure of the PM. According to local news reports, Abe is suffering from Ulcerative Colitis since he was a teenager but the health problem has increasingly heightened from few days. Earlier, the Liberal Democratic Party and the political allies of Abe; constantly refused and quashed the rumours and speculations about the tenure completion of the Prime Minister. He resigned back in the year 2007 instantaneously; claiming that he was ‘TIRED’.

Recently, Shinzo Abe became the longest-serving consecutive tenure leader of Japan, while breaking amidst the record of his great-uncle Eisaku Sato who served as the Prime Minister of Japan from 1964-1972.
Tenure of Prime Minister Abe
PM Abe has been popularised for his nationalist policies and Abenomics; apart from this, he holds an image of being a Firm and Conservative politician. He had a compassionate side for revisionist history, as well as this, was clearly visible in his Domestic and Foreign policies, since the start of his tenure in 2012. He took a firm stance towards North Korea, He also focussed to build ties between India, Australia, and ASEAN countries. Abe became the first Japanese prime minister to attend India’s Republic Day parade as the chief guest in the year 2015. He also tried to build tie-up with China after meeting Xi-Jinping post-2014, regarding the establishment of a hotline between Tokyo and Beijing to discuss and attempt to resolve issues. PM Abe wanted to revise Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution so far, but could not make it up.
After the resignation of PM Abe
The resignation of PM Abe will pass over all the responsibilities to Deputy PM Taro Aso, who will be the Acting PM confining powers over budget and treaties. The resignation Shinzo Abe will also lead to the selection of New party leader which will be a lead for the new PM till September 2021, which was the ending of the tenure of PM Shinzo Abe.
