The first Monday of September is considered as an American federal holiday in regard to celebrating the labor day. Primarily it is celebrated to contribute the tribute and honor to the workers and labor class of the country. History and celebration
Labor day was initially marked as the result of the labor movement that took place in the late 19th century. it was declared as the federal holiday in 1894. Officially it is the sixth federal and state holiday of the year. It is celebrated to recognize the hardcore work and benefaction of the labor and workers in the development of the United States.
In 1887, Oregon was the pioneer state to declare the first Monday of September as the public holiday. Then after in 1894, all thirty states of America officially started to celebrate the labor day as the federal holiday of the nation. It is more often celebrated as with lots of joy having parties and get together but this time in 2020 all these are not going to organized due to the spreading of the coronavirus pandemic.
What remained shut down
Neither the post offices will be allowed to open on labor day nor the regular mail services will be running today. In-person and drive-thru bank services also remain closed today on 7 September 2020 in regard to Labor Day. The banks which are scheduled to remain closed include Bank Of America, Capital One Bank, Chase, PNC Bank, Santander Bank, TD Bank, and Wells Fargo. All these will be closed.
Stock markets are also not allowed to open today. Restaurants usually remain open on Labor Day but this year due to the coronavirus pandemic they are decided to remain closed today.
Services Running today
Majorly grocery stores remain open on Labor Day. Few Stores pick to remain close but most of the grocery stores remain open throughout the holiday. Some stores and supermarkets which will be remained open today are Apple, HomeGoods, Bloomingdale’s, Walmart, and many others too but all these will strictly have to follow all the safety guidelines and protocols issued in such a pandemic recently. Where indoor dining is not allowed due to the coronavirus pandemic, restaurants are allowed for outdoor takeout and delivery services.
