Naomi Osaka Wins U.S. Open Title, beats Victoria Azarenka

Japan’s 22-year-old Naomi Osaka, wins her second U.S. Open Title beating Victoria Azarenka, 31 of Belarus on Saturday, September 11, 2020.

Seeding in the US Open Title for the fourth time edged out her unseeded opponent in 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Finishing the game in just 1 hour 53 minutes, Naomi Osaka claimed her U.S. Open Title inside a near-empty Arthur Ashe Stadium at Flushing Meadows.

Victoria Azarenka dominated the game against Naomi Osaka in the first 26 minutes. Sprinting the first set with an 88 percent success rate on her first serve, the Belarus tennis player made every belief that the title was hers to win. On the other hand, The Japanese player Naomi Osaka was uncharacteristically sloppy, hitting a whopping 13 unforced errors.

Impulse swiftly swung in Naomi Osaka’s favor

Then the impulse swiftly swung in Osaka’s favor and she broke a third time to take the match to a deciding set. Moreover, Osaka enjoyed the first quantum leap of set three in game four when she broke Azarenka’s serve to take a 3-1 lead.
Again, to take hold of the game, Naomi recovered from 0-40 for a 4-1 lead. Azarenka on the other hand blew a golden opportunity to get back into the match, wasting three breakpoints. Azarenka however saved four breakpoints to make it 4-2 as she battled to keep the contest alive.

Tamir Rice is a 12-year-old Afro-American boy who was shot dead by a white police officer in Cleveland, Ohio in 2014. In each round of the tournament, Naomi Osaka, of Japanese and Haitian heritage, wore different masks in memory and honor of various victims of racial injustice and police brutality.

In 2019 Australian Open champion Naomi slipped on face coverings holding the names of Breonna Taylor, Elijah McClain, Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, George Floyd, and Philando Castile.
