Welcome to an exclusive first look at the Netflix Original movies and series set to debut in August 2023. It’s going to be a busy month, so let’s take a look at what’s coming up.
Lift, the upcoming Kevin Hart film that was originally scheduled for August 25th, is no longer displayed below. This is due to the film’s postponement until January 2024.
This preview will be constantly updated until August 2023, when it will be phased out in favor of a larger preview that includes all of the new titles coming out in August.
Heartstopper (Season 2)
The hit teen show Heartstopper will return for a second season, with author Alice Oseman returning to direct. Netflix will release it on August 3rd.
Here’s what to expect from the second season:
“Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship; Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges and Tao and Elle work out if they can ever be more than just friends. With exams on the horizon, a school trip to Paris and a prom to plan, the gang has a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love and friendship.”

This new animated series from BOOM! Studios and Polygon Pictures is directed by Aaron Lam. Arriving on Netflix on August 10
In the 50-year-future setting of the show, an alien species attacks Earth, and young Stanford Yu aspires to become a pilot for one of the many Robo Mechs that have come to Earth’s aid.
The series features the voices of Brandon Soo Hoo, Aparna Brielle, Victoria Grace, Josh Sundquist, Anairis Quinones, Daniel Dae Kim, James Yaegashi, Ming-Na Wen, Scott Whyte, and Robbie Daymond.

Painkiller (Limited Series)
From the people who made Narcos and Patriots Day comes a new limited series that looks at how the opioid crisis in the U.S. has had terrible effects. On August 10, Netflix will be available.

Gal Gadot plays the title role in Tom Harper’s upcoming action film, which is expected to be one of Netflix’s biggest summer blockbusters. Netflix will launch on August 11th.

This new animated feature film for the whole family is based on an ancient Chinese fable, and it was created by Pearl Studio. Follow along as Monkey uses his magical fighting stick to take on demons, dragons, and even gods in this action-packed tale! Netflix release date set for August 18

This film adaptation of Fiona Rosenbloom’s novel is one of three major movies starring Adam Sandler scheduled for release in 2023. Release date: August 25th, only on Netflix

One Piece is a popular manga and anime series, and Netflix, Matt Owens, and Steven Madea are bringing it to live action. The 31st of August (this date may change) is when Netflix will have it.
The Straw Hat Pirates are on the run, so the series follows their adventures as they travel through dangerous oceans, lands, and other places. Iaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson, and Taz Skylar will all be in the new show.
One Piece hasn’t been given a release date yet, but it and Avatar: The Last Airbender are two of the most anticipated Netflix Originals for 2023. The trailer is available below:
