Season 2 of Cruel Summer, a popular show on Freeform from 2021 to the present, has finally come out. This movie was a surprise hit when it came out in April 2021. It was about a popular high school student named Kate Wallis, played by Olivia Holt, who is kidnapped and then saved months later.
During the time Kate is gone, Chiara Aurelia’s character, Jeanette Turner, goes from being a nerd to being the new Queen B. She takes Kate’s place on the social ladder. But things start to go wrong for Jeanette when her reputation is on the line because she left out information about Kate’s abduction to help herself.
The show, which Jessica Biel is the executive producer of, is coming back with a new cast and storyline that is full of mystery, friendship, and betrayal. Here’s what we know so far about the next season of the Freeform original series.
When Does Season 2 of Cruel Summer Come Out?
In June 2021, the last episode of the Freeform show showed that Jeannette wasn’t as innocent as she made it seem. On Monday, June 5, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. PST/9:00 p.m. EDT, Cruel Summer returned to TV screens with a two-episode premiere.
Just like Season 1, episodes are available to stream on Hulu the day after they air on Freeform. After the premiere, the rest of the episodes will be released on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. PST/10 p.m. EDT. This will be the regular time for the show.
What is the Season 2 Episode Schedule for Cruel Summer?
As was already said, the first two episodes will be released on the same day, and the rest will come out every week. On Mondays, they will be shown on Freeform, and on Tuesdays, they will be available to stream on Hulu. Here’s when the first five episodes will air:

Who Will Be Appearing in the Second Season of Cruel Summer?
As was previously mentioned, Lexi Underwood, star of Little Fires Everywhere, will play a major role in this new installment of the anthology series. She portrays Isabella, a mysterious and endearing exchange student who becomes close friends with Megan (Sadie Stanley, The Goldbergs) and Luke (Griffin Gluck, American Vandal).
Newcomer Eloise Payet was reportedly cast as Isabella before Underwood was cast. Megan, Stanley’s main character, is a nice and skilled computer coder who becomes a free spirit after Isabella moves in with them.
Aside from Paul Adelstein (The Menu) as Steve Chambers and KaDee Strickland (Private Practice) as Debbie, Season 2 of Cruel Summer also features appearances by Lisa Yamada (All of Us Are Dead) and Sean Blakemore (General Hospital).
Season 1 cast members Adelstein, Nile Bullock, Jenna Lamb, and Braeden de La Garza are expected to return. Characters who played significant roles in Season 1 but won’t be returning include Chiara Aurelia, Olivia Holt, Froy Gutierrez, and Harley Quinn Smith.
What is the Storyline of Cruel Summer Season 2?
According to Freeform, here is the official summary for Season 2:
Set in an idyllic waterfront town in the Pacific Northwest, the next chapter of “Cruel Summer” follows the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship. Approaching the story from three different timelines surrounding Y2K, the season twists and turns as it tracks the early friendship between Megan, Isabella and Megan’s best friend Luke, the love triangle that blossomed, and the mystery that would impact all of their lives going forward.
Is There Any Trailer for Cruel Summer Season 2?
On May 8, 2023, a full trailer for the second season of Cruel Summer was released.

Is There Any Link Between Seasons 1 and 2 of Cruel Summer?
The second season of Cruel Summer will be more like an anthology than a continuation of Season 1’s story about Jeannette and Kate. Even though some of the same actors will be in the series, the plot will be completely different.
At the Television Critics Association 2023 Winter Press Tour, actress and executive producer Jessica Biel said that making it an anthology was done so that the story wouldn’t repeat itself. But she promised that the unreliable narrators, which are one of the best parts of the series, would stay.
Conclusion
Cruel Summer returns to TV screens with a two-episode premiere on June 5, 2023, and the rest of the episodes will be released on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. PST/10 p.m. EDT. Lexi Underwood, Eloise Payet, Paul Adelstein, KaDee Strickland, Lisa Yamada, and Sean Blakemore will appear in the second season of Cruel Summer, which follows the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship.
