The Netflix sci-fi film They Cloned Tyrone features John Boyega (Star Wars) and Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained). For his directorial debut, Creed 2 screenwriter Juel Taylor will be taking the helm. The film’s script was written by Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier (The Light Thief). All the information you need to know about the movie that will be released in July of 2023 is provided below.
Produced by Charles D. King, Poppy Hanks, and their firm Macro, who recently brought you the Netflix original Raising Dion. Macro facilitates the employment of people of colour in the film and television industry. Since its founding in 2015, the company’s website claims that nine of its productions have been nominated for an Academy Award, with one going on to win.

They Cloned Tyrone Trailer
On September 24, 2022, at Netflix’s TUDUM event, the first trailer was released. First scenes involve Boyega, Teyonah Parris, and Jamie Foxx in an elevator setting. They had an amusing moment when they start singing Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Going Down” despite the fact that both Parris’ and Foxx’s characters are armed.
Plot of They Cloned Tyrone
Pulpy science fiction adventure about an unusual group who uncover a sinister plot as they look into a string of mysterious occurrences. After being fatally wounded by his rival, Isaac, a local drug dealer named Fontaine is taken aback when he miraculously recovers and goes on to spend the next day as though nothing had happened to him.
Along with Slick Charles and Yo-Yo, he investigates the incident and discovers an underground facility where a government-supported lab is conducting experiments on the local Black population. Fontaine initially feels sorrow upon learning that he is a clone under Nixon’s control, but ultimately decides that he must oppose his white institutional oppressors for the sake of his community.
The film’s complete script is, intriguingly enough, available online for your perusal.
This screenplay was included in The Black List 2019, a website where filmmakers can submit and read scripts for potential production. Script Shadow’s in-depth analysis of the script is available on this page as well. Apparently, “what makes They Cloned Tyrone stand out is that it mixes comedy and science fiction, but it’s also R-rated.”
John Boyega described it as a “stateside version of Attack the Block” in an interview with ComingSoon.net, and Joel Taylor’s involvement in the film drew the likes of Jamie Foxx. It has a fantastic script.
Who’s In They Cloned Tyrone Cast?
Originally cast as Tyrone Fontaine, Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) has been replaced by John Boyega. In this story, Yo-Yo is one of the three protagonists. Monica Rambeau will be played by Parris, who just made her MCU debut in WandaVision as an adult Monica Rambeau. Foxx not only produces the film but also performs the role of Slick Charles.
The Netflix films Day Shift and Project Power both featured him recently. Famous actor Kiefer Sutherland (24), whose character is still unknown, is also featured in the cast. Isaac is played by P-J. Valley’s Alphonse Nicholson. Biddy is played by Tamberla Perry of APB and Ree-Ree is played by Megan Sousa of Beats.
Creed II and Space Jam: A New Legacy screenwriter Juel Taylor will make his directorial debut with this film. Taylor and his frequent collaborator, Tony Rettenmaier, wrote the script together. The camera work for this production was done by Ken Seng.
The films Deadpool, Project X, and Terminator: Dark Destiny all used his work. Its score was composed by Pierre Charles. His music has been included in the recent films Inventing Anna, Euphoria, and Bridgerton. The film is being produced by a large team including Charles D. King, Stephen “Dr.” Love, and Datari Turner in addition to Taylor, Rettenmaier, Foxx, and MACRO Media.
Final Words
In the upcoming Netflix sci-fi film They Cloned Tyrone, portrayed by John Boyega, Teyonah Parris, and Jamie Foxx, the cloning of a character is explored. Produced by Charles D. King, Poppy Hanks, and Macro, it’s an aid for minorities seeking work in the entertainment industry. In The Marvels, an unlikeable trio takes on the task of uncovering a sinister plot. Brian Tyree Henry will portray Tyrone Fontaine, Jamie Foxx will play Slick Charles, and John Boyega will play the starring role.
