Tom Edge’s British police procedural miniseries Vigil consists of six episodes. Moreover, Edge serves as an executive producer alongside Gaynor Holmes, Jake Lushington, James Strong, and Simon Heath.

Vigil Season 2 Plot
There may not be a plot for season two just yet, but we do know that the cast and crew will be back in Scotland to shoot. Following the inexplicable disappearance of a Scottish fishing vessel, the first season saw Detective Chief Inspector Amy Silva of the Scottish Police Service assigned to HMS Vigil, a nuclear-powered Vanguard-class ballistic missile submarine, to investigate a fatality on board.
Her work, along with that of her on-land colleagues, has brought the police into direct conflict with the British Royal Navy and the British Security Service, MI5. Parallels can be seen between this and the true story of the Royal Navy submarine HMS Vigilant.
The fictitious trawler Mhairi Finnea’s demise in the show is reminiscent of the real-life 1990 sinking of the FV Antares in the Firth of Clyde by the Royal Navy’s nuclear-powered submarine HMS Trenchant. The Antares crew’s loved ones voiced their displeasure with the drama’s depiction of the Mhairi Finnea sinking, but the BBC has repeatedly denied any basis in fact.
