Alan Alda is the main actor in the 1981 American romantic comedy film The Four Seasons, which he also wrote, directed, and starred in. The film also features Carol Burnett, Len Cariou, Sandy Dennis, Rita Moreno, Jack Weston, and Bess Armstrong in supporting roles.
It gets its name from the four concertos that Antonio Vivaldi wrote down and published. The musical soundtrack is comprised, in its entirety, of these compositions as well as others by Vivaldi.
In 1984, the film gave rise to a CBS series that was created by Alda but did not last very long.
The plot centres on three married couples from New York City’s upper middle class who spend their vacations travelling with two other couples during each of the four different seasons.

After this pattern has been established for some time, Nick decides to spend the spring vacation in his country house apart from his wife Anne, whom he has been married to for the past 21 years. He then goes on to bring Ginny, a much younger woman, on the vacation travels they take in the summer, fall, and winter respectively.
Because of this, the other two spouses are put in an awkward position, since they have the impression that they have betrayed their trusted friend Anne.
