Smile is an American psychological horror movie from 2022. It was written and directed by Parker Finn, and it was based on his short film Laura Hasn’t Slept from 2020. Sosie Bacon plays a therapist named Rose Cotter.
It was made available to stream through Paramount+. Smile had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest on September 22, 2022. On September 30, 2022, Paramount Pictures put it out in the United States.
Smile got mostly good reviews from critics. They liked the visuals, themes, and Bacon’s performance, but they didn’t like the scares that came out of nowhere. It did well at the box office, making $216 million worldwide on a budget of $17 million.
Smile Movie Release Date Plotline
Dr. Rose Cotter, a psychiatrist, meets Laura Weaver, a PhD student who saw her art history professor commit suicide a few days earlier, at a psychiatric ward. Laura says that people with smiles on their faces are telling her that she is going to die. Soon after that, Laura falls to the ground and starts to scream.
Rose sees Laura standing up and smiling when she calls for help. Laura cuts her throat with a piece of a broken vase to kill herself. Rose later sees her crazy patient Carl grinning and shouting that Dr.
Cotter is going to die. Rose tells the nurses to hold him down, but when they get there, he’s already asleep. Rose’s boss, Dr. Morgan Desai, gives her a week off because he cares about her mental health.

Nobody anticipated Smile to be quite as good as it turned out to be, but it is such a joy to watch a truly exciting new horror film on the big screen. I believe that I am able to speak for all of us when I say that nobody anticipated Smile to be quite as good as it turned out to be.
