Outlander Season 6: Star Announced the Story is Very Twisted and Heartbreaking!

Season 6 of Outlander is well started, with Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan returning last month (March 6th, 2022).

The iconic fantasy drama features military nurse Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), who is transported back in time from 1945 to 1743, where she embarks on a passionate romance with Highland warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

The pair settles at Fraser’s Ridge, North Carolina, but Jamie is troubled by the knowledge of the Revolutionary War’s result, which is on the horizon.

The entrance of a new family, the Christies, upends the status quo at the Ridge and causes conflict with Jamie, but it isn’t the only issue the Frasers deal with in season 6.

The Release Date for Season 6 of Outlander

On Sunday, March 6, 2022, Starz in the US and StarzPlay in the UK both debuted the sixth season of Outlander.

Outlander Season 6 (1)

Starz reaffirmed the excellent news on November 23, 2021.

In order to properly reintroduce the show to its viewers, the first episode was prolonged.

Prior seasons of Starz US are available to US audiences as they wait for the new episodes.

Who Will Appear in Season 6 of Outlander?

All four of the main characters—Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall Fraser, Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Richard Rankin as Roger Wakefield, and Sophie Skelton as Brianna Randall—will make a return. Ian Fraser Murray will also be played by John Bell again.

Duncan Lacroix, who played Jamie’s godfather Murtagh, won’t be appearing again because the character passed away in season five.

Mark Lewis Jones, Alexander Vlahos, and Jessica Reynolds have all agreed to appear in the sixth season, so there will be some fresh faces there as well. Tom Christie, Allan Christie, and Malva Christie will all be played by the three actors.

Tom Christie, together with his children Allan and Malva, serves as the de facto leader of a group of Protestant settlers. As she becomes more familiar with Claire and her perspective on the world, Malva in particular should have a fascinating interaction with her father.

Outlander Season 6 (1)

We already know that one significant member of the production team won’t be back for season 6 of the behind-the-scenes cast.

The cast and crew of Outlander have revealed that production designer Jon Gary Steele would leave the series after the series 5 finale in May 2020.

Heughan, who has been playing Jamie Haser since 2014, recently discussed using an intimacy coordinator for the first time during sex scenes with co-star Balfe.

The actor told Digital Spy, “I suggested we buy one after meeting her through work I was doing at my former drama school. It’s a relatively recent trend in the industry, and our show undoubtedly features a lot of intimacy.

In a sense, it had been left to Catriona and me to just muddle through [sex scenes]. Naturally, we have a way of working together and have developed a relationship, but when she joined the team, we quickly realized that there was a lot of pressure, and she really helped us get through those scenes.

The Plot of Outlander Season 6

With the American Civil War looming, Outlander season 6 keeps its focus on the Fraser family on Fraser’s Ridge.

There are also going to be a lot of fresh arrivals, so that’s not all.

Roger MacKenzie, who plays Jamie’s son-in-law, Richard Rankin, revealed to RadioTimes.com that a central subject of season 6 is faith: We’re going to see some religious components included in the program and inquiries regarding people’s levels of religion.

“Tom Christie brings in such a fervent, ardent attitude to Christianity, and Roger undoubtedly questions his teaching and upholding of that line within the society. As a result, you can already see that there will be a conflict between the Fraser/MacKenzie family and the Christie family.

In the meantime, Claire, who was brutally kidnapped and raped at the conclusion of season 5, will continue to wrestle with her demons.

Outlander Season 6 (1)

In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Caitriona Balfe said, “Even before we filmed it, we had already started the conversations about how crucial it was to depict the recovery and the consequences. “I’m very appreciative that our writers were willing to give that a lot of airtime.

“I also believe it’s critical that we see a character like Claire, who frequently receives the label of being a strong female,’ to demonstrate how, regardless matter how strong you may seem on the outside, something like this will truly shake you to your core. We watch Claire experience PTSD and make some mistakes on her road to recovery, despite the fact that she has always been able to compartmentalize and move on from traumas.

Nevertheless, despite Claire’s tragedy, Jamie and Claire are “just as in love with each other today as they were from the beginning.”

In subsequent episodes, Skelton’s character Brianna will also be battling her demons after learning that the attacker was still alive and might still be looking for her at the end of season 5.
Skelton told Deadline that “Brianna’s pretty much been through everything that could happen to a person.” But I’m aware that there will be a lot more occurring the following season, and it will be great to watch what the authors come up with since they always come up with something amazing.

In the season 5 finale, there was a twist revealing that Jamie’s family is not the only time traveler, and Brianna also learned that she had a half-brother named William. Whether or if these storylines are developed further in season 6 is unknown, but it seems likely.
