With today’s airing of Episode 12, Andor Season 1 came to a close. You can read our review here. Simply put, it enhances the Rebellion’s preparations for Rogue One and is the best Star Wars show to date.
In the series, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), the Rebel spy we first encountered in Rogue One before his fateful encounter with Jyn Erso and their valiant attempts to steal the Death Star blueprints, tells his backstory.
Here is all the information we currently have about Andor Season 2—from a potential release date to the cast, plot, and other specifics. The clock has begun to run out for the upcoming batch of episodes.
When is the Second Season of Andor Coming Out?
While a specific release date for Andor Season 2 isn’t yet known, it is anticipated to air on Disney+ in the fall of 2024, which is around another two years away.
The second season’s filming began this week, ahead of the finale, and based on the past production schedule, it seems unlikely that we will see it before the end of 2023.
Tony Gilroy, the show’s creator, stated to The Wrap, “I have two more years to go. On Part 2, we begin filming in November. We’ll shoot from November to August, though I’m not sure if that will change from our previous pattern of every two years. And our previous post was made almost a year ago.
“As questionable as my participation in the community may be, by the time I’m finished, I’ll have access to 26 hours of Star Wars material. By the time we’re done, I’ll have become a player. This is why I’m still here today. That, I believe, is the headline.

Additionally, he said to Collider: “If past is a predicate and we carry on in the same manner as previously, it will happen on the same schedule. Two years from now, it will be released.

“The only location where you can speed up procedures is in the post, and the only way to speed up processes in a post is with money, which is scarce.
I’m not sure, but I think there would need to be some serious drive in May, June, or another month. Wow, we really need this, and we’re willing to pay X, someone would have to say. Rogue One demonstrated that you can accomplish anything if you put money into it. Simply put, it’s incredibly expensive.

Following the devastating events of Episode 10, when it was revealed that Kino Loy couldn’t swim, a question mark still looms over Andy Serkis’ performance as Kino Loy. When asked whether his character passed away in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he responded, “That’s an interesting one. No one knows.
What’s Andor Season 2’s Plot?
Season 2 of Andor will have 12 episodes and span four years, unlike Season 1, which shows how Cassian met Luthen and joined the Rebellion.
Gilroy told Rolling Stone, “I hope the second half will be gratifying.” The first year is about him becoming, and the last line of these 12 episodes will sum up our goal. Afterward, we return.
“It’s different. The next four years aren’t for revolution. They’re about leadership, alliances, original gangsters versus the establishment, and other issues.
We know Andor’s ending will “lead directly into Rogue One.”
Gilroy has teased “heavy” moments for Mon Mothma’s second season, especially after Genevieve O’Reilly’s performance.

“We had some ambitions for what we were going to do with Mon Mothma, turning her upside-down and filling out her backstory,” he told the Radio Times.
“I knew she was good, but when we started playing, I realized she’s world-class. She’s cutting-edge and can do anything.”
“Because we’re doing Season 2 stuff now… She does everything else but under glass… There’s a lot to do. I think her route is quite hard.”
