We were not prepared for the 2000s cult hit The Princess Diaries, starring the legendary Julie Andrews and the unpopular Anne Hathaway, to blow our minds. The movie helped Anne Hathaway’s career, and the audience enjoyed Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement as well.
Even though a trilogy’s conclusion was discussed afterward, it was never started until now. So it would seem that Genovia is getting ready, and we can all look forward to seeing the famous character again who will undoubtedly arouse strong nostalgia.
Date of the Princess Diaries 3’s Release
There is no set release date for Princess Diaries 3. We think it would be worthwhile to hold out for an epic movie from the franchise for a few more months.
The team has reportedly only just started working on the script written by Aadrita Mukerji, who also wrote the acclaimed Supergirl. According to reports, Mia Thermopolis’ story will be continued in the upcoming episode rather than Meg Cabot’s Princess Diaries books.
Princess Diaries 3’s Story
There is much more to learn, even if the movie keeps telling Mia’s story. The premise of the book, in which Man ends up with Michael, the brother of her best friend, after a protracted affair, is significantly different from the sequel. The love interest for Mia was replaced by Chris Pine after Robert Schwartzman declined to return for the sequel.
After altering the law that stated a woman could only rule once after marriage, Mia was crowned queen of Genovia at the end of the movie. Andrew’s character declares her love for her bodyguard, Joe, in the conclusion (portrayed by Hector Elizondo).
Mia’s rule in the upcoming Princess Diaries 3 may change from the previous episode, and more sleepovers are likely to occur. Perhaps a third movie will shed more light on her love life and show whether she ended up with Nicholas or a shady character.
The Princess Diaries 3’s Cast
Due to the fact that film production has only just gotten started, the cast has not yet been confirmed. We are now in the dark regarding the original cast’s potential comeback. We can be sure that Julie Andrews won’t return to the role of Queen Clarisse Renaldi because she previously stated that she wouldn’t.
It feels too late to try it now, she said in an interview she gave to The Hollywood Reporter as part of the celebrations honoring her AFI Life Achievement Award. That period of time is too distant to revisit in my particular case. Although I doubt it will ever happen, it’s a good idea.
The existence of a third installment in the franchise was confirmed by Anne Hathaway on a 2019 episode of Watch What Happens Life, and she had previously expressed a desire in doing so. On Entertainment Tonight, she recently stated that she was “pushing for it” and “would more than entertain it.”
“I believe we could succeed if Julie Andrews joined us. She promised that wherever she was, a green screen would be set up, and we would make it happen.
Mandy Moore said she “would be game” to return after portraying school bully Lana Thomas on The Drew Barrymore Show in August.
The Film Has Been the Topic of Conversation for Years!
At the time, Queen Andrews herself provided an update. In an April virtual chat with The Talk, the Oscar-winning actor managed to simultaneously inspire excitement and throw doubt over PD3. “I heard there may be one,” she disclosed. “It’s been discussed for a long time, but nothing has been on my desk or similar. I believe I would do it. I am becoming incredibly old and cranky.
“I’m getting awfully old and crotchety. I’m not sure if it’s the right timing, but I think to work with Annie [Hathaway] would be lovely again. And yeah, sure I would be up for it.” – @JulieAndrews on a potential “Princess Diary 3” movie. pic.twitter.com/0qY07FlFMi

I’m not sure whether the moment is right, but I think working with Annie [Anne Hathaway, who played Princess Mia] again would be beautiful, and I’d be willing to do so. I believe we should wait for a script, should one be submitted. Obviously, we would not have the brilliant director Gary Marshall. He has succeeded. And he was the primary driving force behind everything.”
Garry Marshall Planned the Third Installment Before His Death!
Speaking of Marshall, the director was also enthusiastic about making a third Princess Mia film. In a March 2016 interview with People, Marshall stated, “A few weeks ago, Anne Hathaway and I were together.
The Princess Diaries 3 appears to be something we want to film in New York.” Marshall’s notion was never implemented, which is a shame, but it’s feasible that the sequel will still take place in New York to commemorate his suggestion.
The Princess Diary 2 Recap
The Princess Diaries’ narrative description will begin with Mia Thermopolis, a teenage girl with frizzy hair who is trying to graduate high school with her best friend Lily. She resides in San Francisco with her mother.
She was hardly working out every day when she suddenly realized she was a princess and the next in line. When her grandmother, Queen Clarice, abruptly discloses the entire story, she is left debating whether to accept or reject her inheritance.
Following her confirmation of her royal destinies, Mia arrives in the fictional nation of Genovia at the start of the sequel. But once she got there, she understood that in order to claim the kingdom, she had to be married. In the middle of the chaos, Nicholas falls in love with Mia, but she rejects the custom of being married for the sake of getting married.
