On November 3, 1972, Albert Kreischer Jr. was born in St. Petersburg, Florida, but he spent most of his childhood in Tampa. His father was a real estate lawyer, and his mother was a child development specialist. After graduating from a Jesuit high school, he enrolled at Florida State. Bert’s first job as a stand-up comic was at a bar in Tallahassee called Potbelly’s. After sending an audio recording of his act to agent Jason Steinberg, he was invited to New York to see some stand-up comedy. Then, Kreischer moved to New York City and got a job working the door at the Boston Comedy Club in Greenwich Village. After a few months, Will Smith’s production company offered him a deal to make a sitcom.

In 2001, Bert was in the pilot for the show “Life with David J.” and the short film “Prepare to Meet Thy God.” In 2004, “Shorties Watchin’ Shorties” on Comedy Central showed an animated version of one of his stories.
