The Ancient Magus’ Bride, the beloved supernatural romance anime from 2017, is returning, and a release date window has been announced for Season 2.

Since 2017, fans of the hit anime series The Ancient Magus’ Bride, which was based on the manga of the same name by Kore Yamazaki, have been eagerly awaiting the release of a sequel.

Now, it appears that fans will be rewarded for their patience, as a second season is finally in production and will soon be available.

It’s been a while since the first season, so it’s probably best if we catch you up on everything related to Season 2 of The Ancient Magus’ Bride.

When Will Season 2 of the Ancient Magus’ Bride Premiere?

Twin Engine has revealed that the second season of The Ancient Magus’ Bride will premiere in April 2023 as part of the spring season.

As is typical for anime, the exact release date will not be determined until much closer to the period.

The new season will premiere on Tokyo MX and BS11 before becoming available on Amazon Prime Video and Hikari TV in Japan.

The announcement was made in the video embedded below, alongside a visual teaser.

What Will Occur in Season 2 of the Ancient Magus’ Bride?

The anime will continue to be based on Seven Seas Entertainment’s popular manga series. They characterize the plot as follows:
Hatori Chise has lived a life of neglect and maltreatment, devoid of any semblance of love. Away from the comfort of her family, she has encountered her share of difficulties and obstacles.

Just when all hope seems lost, she will have a fortuitous encounter. Chise’s life will never be the same again after a man with the head of a beast and strange abilities acquires her through a slave auction.

The individual is a “magus,” a powerful sorcerer who decides to free Chise from captivity. The magus then makes an audacious proclamation: Chise will be his apprentice and his bride.

This new season will adapt the manga’s Gakuin (College) arc, which debuted in May 2018.

Who Will Be Working on Season 2 of the Ancient Magus’ Bride?

The majority of the cast and crew from the first season will return, as shown in the above promotional video.

This includes Atsumi Tanezaki as Chise, Ryota Takeuchi as Elias Ainsworth, Kouki Uchiyama as Ruth, and Aya Endo as Silky’s voice acting abilities. Mutsumi Tamura, who portrays Alice, and Satoshi Hino, who portrays Mikhail Renfred, will also return.

Kazuaki Terasawa will return to direct the anime at Studio Kafka, a newly established animation studio dedicated to the anime’s other projects. Also returning is animation director Khei Tokuoka, who drew many of the promotional images seen below, and scriptwriters Aya Takaha, Yoko Yonaiyama, and Chiaki Nishinaka. Hirotaka Kat will once again design the characters, while Junichi Matsumoto will compose the music for the season.
