Riverdale Season 7: It Won’t Be Airing on the CW in November 2022, Right?

Cole Sprouse told GQ that Riverdale’s cast was ready to “wrap it up with a bow” before its cancellation. Riverdale’s seventh and final season won’t be typical.

The show’s supernatural shift at the end of season six sent everyone back to a cornier, simpler time, setting up a bigger twist. Riverdale’s dark adaptation of the source material has ended on a retro note that captures the ’50s setting this franchise is known for.

Mark Pedowitz, The CW president, suggested ending the show in May 2022: “I believe in sending off long-running series properly. We had a long conversation with Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] yesterday, who is thrilled by this news, and we will treat the show properly. We want it sent properly. They also thought seven years was enough. As a fan, I want to help the show.”

Riverdale Season 7 Return Date: When?

You don’t need to be a witch or FBI agent to guess when Riverdale’s final season will start on the CW.

Riverdale Season 7 (1)

Except for season one and season five, which were affected by the pandemic, Riverdale started in October or November. The final chapter should begin in October or November 2022.

Cast for Riverdale’s Seventh Season: Who Will Appear?

In the final season, expect to see all of these Riverdale residents return, including:

Vanessa Morgan as Toni Topaz
• Drew Ray Tanner as Fangs Fogarty
• Erinn Westbrook as Tabitha Tate

Mädchen Amick as Alice Smith
• Casey Cott as Kevin Keller
Charles Melton as Reggie Mantle

Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge
• Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones
• Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom

KJ Apa as Archie Andrews
Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa hinted that some long-lost cast members might make a final appearance in his interview with Decider:

Riverdale Season 7 (2)

“In season seven, which is our final season, I hope to see characters from Riverdale who we haven’t seen in a while making an appearance in satisfying plotlines. I kind of hope that it will be a celebration and reunion for everyone who has worked on Riverdale and contributed to making the show what it was. Again, there is a tonne of details to work out, but my biggest hope is that the people we haven’t seen in a while will return.”

And yes, that might imply that FP, Jughead’s father, could also ride into town.

Aguirre-Sacasa said, “Listen, I would love, love, love, love, love to have Skeet [Ulrich] back. I believe that everyone would agree with me, so my hope is that we can accomplish that this season.

Of course, there is also Sabrina. Following her appearances in season six, it appears that everyone’s favorite teenage witch may return after the conclusion of her own program.

Kiernan Shipka, who plays Sabrina, told Collider that “She has to return.”

“They’ll probably need her assistance once more. Lean into the chaos as much as possible for entertainment’s sake, work diligently, and have faith that everything will work out, but at the end of the day, just really probably call Sabrina again. To be completely honest, I believe they will require her.”

What is the Riverdale Season 7 Plot?

Even though most of the characters have pretty much-forgotten everything that happened with Percival, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa hinted that the supernatural events of season six will still have an impact on the finale:

“It does not represent a stark break from the past. Jughead is able to recall every detail. And whether or not they are aware of it, I believe that our characters have an emotional memory of what they have been through.”

“Rivervale is in continuity once more, as I attempted to say after the Rivervale incident. Five of them do not exist outside of continuity. And I believe that everyone realized how closely tied it was to Riverdale and season 6. So in my opinion, season seven does not mark the beginning of a new continuity. It’s still happening right now.”
When questioned about the future of popular couples like Barchie, Choni, and Jabitha, Roberto gave the following hints that change is imminent in the wake of the shocking twist:

Riverdale Season 7 (3)

“How do I phrase this? Some of the couples featured in the finale will remain together. There will be new things and some will change into new things. Undoubtedly, there will also be new pairings.”

That is especially true for queer characters who must now navigate their sexuality in a much less accepting era, like Kevin and Toni:

“In the 1950s, things will be very different. They will remain secretive. They’ll need to come up with new strategies for interacting with one another. So, one of the intriguing stories for us is how our characters, who we got to know in the quasi-present day, deal with issues or realities related to euphoria in the 1950s.”

Also, don’t anticipate that this major twist will be resolved in a single episode.

We still haven’t worked it out, Roberto said. “I will say, on the last day of filming, I was chatting with Lili [Reinhart] and she was saying, ‘Oh, it’s so exciting to be in the ’50s,’ and I was like, “Yes, settle in.” Then she asked, “We’re going to be here for long?,” and I replied, “Yep, we’re going to be here for a while.” Therefore, I will say it won’t be one-and-done, that much

We couldn’t travel through time and show you brand-new material without Tabitha’s time-traveling abilities. However, when it does, which is most likely in October 2022, anticipate seeing it here at Digital Spy first.
