Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks are responsible for creating and publishing the Elder Scrolls video game franchise. This franchise emphasizes player agency and open-world design. Several publications have named Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim their Game of the Year. A total of 58 million copies of the books in the series have been sold thus far.
All of the games in the series take place on Tamriel, a mythical continent. Elements of the real world from before the Middle Ages, like a powerful empire like the Roman Empire, coexist with high fantasy medieval themes, like the use of magic, the lack of modern technology, and the presence of strange animals.
In different parts of the continent, humans and other fantasy races like elves, orcs, and animals with human traits live. In most stories, a hero is chosen and assigned the responsibility of combating a villain or an opposing army.
Since The Elder Scrolls: Arena came out in 1994, there have been five main games and two or three expansions for each. ZeniMax Online Studios, a Bethesda-affiliated ZeniMax subsidiary, launched The Elder Scrolls Online in 2014.
Game Play
The Elder Scrolls games are a type of action role-playing game that also incorporates features from other types of video games, particularly adventure games. In Arena, players increase their level by killing monsters (and consequently accumulating experience points) until they reach a certain threshold, at which time they are promoted to the next level.
On the other hand, the series took a skill-based approach to character progression in Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion respectively. Players give their characters new abilities by exercising those abilities, and they cannot progress in levels until a certain set of those abilities has been mastered.
In Skyrim, a new strategy was implemented, according to which the character’s level is increased proportionally to the amount of experience gained by the character’s various skills. This resulted in a change in emphasis away from the process of character creation and toward character development. The Elder Scrolls Construction Set has enabled the introduction of game extensions, sometimes known as mods, because to the adaptability of the game engines.
When compared to the majority of role-playing games, The Elder Scrolls’ main series of games place an emphasis on different components of the overall gameplay experience. A small article published by Joystiq at the beginning of November 2006 made a comparison between the works of Bethesda and BioWare by pointing out a difference in emphasis. “aesthetic presentation and open-ended adventuring” was the primary focus of Bethesda’s inventions, whereas “combat system and modular design” was the primary focus of BioWare’s
. This ultimate goal was taken into consideration by the creators of their system as well. Bethesda has stated that their goals in developing the first game in the series, Arena, were the same as those of any excellent pen-and-paper role-playing game: to create an atmosphere in which the player could be and do whatever the user desired.
The designers of Daggerfall wanted to “build a book with blank pages,” as well as “a game meant to promote discovery and reward curiosity,” which is stated at the beginning of the Daggerfall manual in the form of a design manifesto. The player is given options, “much like they would be in real life,” such as whether they want to pursue good or pursue evil in the form of a path that they take through the game.
This design tendency continued with Morrowind, following a gap of similarly epic games throughout the interim; nevertheless, Joystiq’s previously observed emphasis on aesthetics returned to the forefront during this game’s development. During the production of Morrowind, Bethesda more than doubled the size of its workforce in order to fine-tune the coloring of its newly hand-made environment.
In their own words, “We knew we had to surpass the visual polish of the other games on the market, and we made it our objective to place The Elder Scrolls back into the forefront of game innovation.” [citation needed]

Platform
Following in the footsteps of Starfield, it seems extremely inevitable that The Elder Scrolls 6 will only be available on Xbox consoles and Windows 10 PCs. This would be in contrast to Skyrim, which was a massive game that was available across multiple platforms.
I was backed up by Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, who stated in an interview with GQ (opens in new tab) that: “My core belief is that each of the platforms can continue to expand, therefore this decision has nothing to do with restricting the growth of any other platform.
But in order for us to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the totality of everything that we have to offer. When I think about Elder Scrolls VI, that is something that comes to mind. When I think about any of our franchises, that is definitely something that holds true.”
So it appears that Spencer has all but confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be available on PS5. This may be disappointing to some individuals, but there will be plenty of titles available exclusively for the PlayStation 5 in the near future. And because of this circumstance, there is a convincing argument in favor of possessing both consoles, given that you are able to locate them.
Rich support for mods is one of the benefits of the game being available on the PC platform. This is one of the reasons why The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is still extremely playable even in modern times.
Outlook
The Elder Scrolls 6m’s outlook is difficult to gauge because to the lack of available information. Of course, fans of Bethesda’s fantasy open-world games would welcome another game of this scope.
And now that Bethesda Game Studios is a part of Microsoft, it’s possible that Bethesda’s development side will reap significant benefits from Microsoft’s technology, tools, and knowledge, leading to a brand-new Elder Scrolls game that is both highly polished at launch and massive in scope.

Fans were quick to notice that the location of the candles on the image, shared on the official Elder Scrolls Twitter account’s New Year’s message depicting a map of Skyrim with the words “transcribe the past and plan the future,” may include a hint.
One is put on the region of Skyrim, another rests on a book supporting the map, and a third is located outside of Skyrim’s borders in the southwest, next to the label for Hammerfell.
