Adam Zimmer Death:  An Nfl Assistant Coach May Have Passed Out From Drinking Before His Death!

After his death, police wrote in a search warrant affidavit that Adam Zimmer had an eye injury.

According to court filings, Cincinnati Bengals assistant coach Adam Zimmer may have been drinking before his death last month.

ESPN reported that Mendota Heights Police Department welfare checkers found the 38-year-old dead in his Minnesota home on Oct. 31.

According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, police received a search warrant affidavit about a man who was possibly drunk and unconscious. The outlet reported finding Zimmer dead on a couch.

PEOPLE’s Tuesday request for comment from the Mendota Heights Police Department went unanswered.

According to the Star Tribune, police filed an affidavit in Dakota County District Court claiming Zimmer had an eye injury.

“Zimmer appeared to have bruising or blood pooling around his eye,” officers wrote, according to the Pioneer Press. The Star Tribune reported that police did not suspect foul play in their filing.

When PEOPLE contacted the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, they had no new information regarding Zimmer’s cause of death.

According to the outlet, Zimmer’s funeral service was held at Good Shepherd Catholic Community Church in Colleyville, Texas, on Tuesday morning.

In a statement previously given to PEOPLE, Bengals President Mike Brown expressed his sorrow over Zimmer’s passing.

For us, Mike and Adam served as friends as well as coaches. We are currently praying for and thinking of the Zimmer family.”

This season, Zimmer started working as a Bengals coach. Prior to that, he was a coach for the Minnesota Vikings following his father’s 2014 appointment as head coach. According to ESPN, he and his father both had their employment terminated last year.

In 2006, he held his first NFL coaching position with the New Orleans Saints as an assistant linebackers coach.

According to a statement from the Vikings regarding Zimmer’s passing, ESPN reported, “We are heartbroken to hear about the passing of Adam Zimmer.” “Adam was a kind, respectful person who clearly cared a great deal about his family, his players, his fellow coaches, and the Vikings front office staff during his time in Minnesota. Mike, Corri, Marki, and the entire Zimmer family are in our prayers.”

Corri Zimmer White, the late coach’s sister, also posted a heartbreaking message on Instagram.

“It’s unbelievable that I’m writing this. My older brother passed away yesterday. The most compassionate, adorable, family-oriented, and sports-crazy soul ever, “Along with a collection of unique pictures of Zimmer through the years, she wrote in part.
