The Cause of Death of Japanese Game Artist Rieko Kodama is Explained!

In May 2022, Rieko Kodama, a Japanese video game artist, and producer, died. Rieko Kodama was hired by Sega, a Japanese multinational video game and entertainment company.

She was in some of Sega’s most famous games. She was also one of the first people to make Sega games like Phantasy Star and Skies of Arcadia. The designer was 59 years old when she died.

The company did not make an official statement about the designer’s death. After Sega’s Mega Drive Mini 2 came out, rumors started going around that the designer had died. In the credits of Mega Drive Mini 2, which just came out, a message to Rieko Kodama was found.

Sega producer Yosuke Oskunari saw the memorial post and confirmed that Rieko Kodama had died. He did this because people were worried about her. He said that the designer had passed away in May of this year.

Reiko Kodama started working in video games in the 1980s. She is often thought of as one of the first successful women in the video game business. When Reiko Kodama first started her career, she went by the name “Phoenix Rie” instead of her own name.
