The second season of the epic anime show Vinland Saga, which retells some important parts of Norse history, will start on January 9, 2023.
The information was shared in a brand-new trailer for the show, which first aired in 2019. The show’s official website was also updated with key information about where it will be available.
From what I’ve heard, people outside of Asia will be able to watch the second season of Vinland Saga first on Netflix and the anime streaming service Crunchyroll.
The release timetable for the show on Netflix is now described as “to be streamed consecutively,” which means that the show will be available to subscribers weekly following its premiere.
In addition, “River” by Anonymouz was shown as the new opening title song for the show, and a few crucial narrative points were hinted at in the new trailer.
After Thorfinn’s failed attempt to get revenge on Askeladd, the second season of The Vinland Saga will begin with him toiling away as a slave on a Danish farm, as the trailer has once again confirmed. Additionally, we get a glance at the second primary plotline of the Vinland Saga, which is the expansion of the dominion of (now) King Canute the Great.
Outside of Japan, the first season of Vinland Saga was made available outside of Japan on Crunchyroll, and then it was moved to Prime Video, and then it was moved to Netflix (where it is presently available).
Instead of being produced by Wit Company, the second season of Vinland Saga will be created by the animation studio MAPPA, which was also responsible for the last season of Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen.
In spite of these alterations, a significant number of the show’s original cast and crew are still working on it, including writer Hiroshi Seko and director Shhei Yabuta.
The show is adapted from a manga series written and drawn by the show’s creator, Makoto Yukimura, which has garnered a significant amount of acclaim throughout the course of its publication.
Vinland Saga Manga Artist Gives Birthdays to Characters Based on Fan Requests
Makoto Yukimura, the creator of the manga series Vinland Saga, has made some Vinland Saga fans’ birthdays a little more special.
Most fans are happy when the artist of their favorite manga series acknowledges them, but the Vinland Saga manga creator appreciates his fans by making their days – and birthdays – that much more memorable with this simple deed.
A fan (RoseRoziee) complimented Makoto Yukimura, the writer, and illustrator of Vinland Saga, for inventing the hard science-fiction series Planetes and Vinland Saga in a tweet. She inquired of Yukimura about the birthday of Hild, a Norwegian hunter. The mangaka congratulated the fan for reading and enjoying his series and inquired about her birthday. Yukimura declared Hild’s birthday, Nov. 23, to be the fan’s birthday when she answered with her birthdate.

The Pleasure of Having Your Biased Character on Your Birthday!
The fan tweeted, “I am going to be so normal about this for the rest of the time,” after pinning a screenshot of the chat to their account since they were so ecstatic. Yukimura has previously celebrated the birthdays of his characters’ supporters. Another admirer asked the mangaka what day Canute was born on July 12 because it was their birthday.
Yukimura wished the fan a happy birthday and mentioned that the Danish king was born on the day in question. The fan explained in response to RoseRoziee’s tweet that they had only gotten in touch on their birthday because they thought Yukimura would “be more likely to reply to [them]” otherwise.
In the historical epic Vinland Saga, a young warrior named Thorfinn seeks to revenge for the passing of his father by slaying Askeladd in a duel. He must first perform different chores for Askeladd, such as eliminating enemy generals, in order to gain the privilege to battle Askeladd.
The series has received praise for Thorfinn’s nuanced character growth as he transitions from a young warrior who has been tainted by hatred to a man who seeks peace. As of August 2022, Vinland Saga has sold over 7 million copies.
The first season of the 24-episode Vinland Saga was created by Wit Studio in 2019. The adaptation has received favorable reviews, and many people consider the first season to be the year’s greatest anime. Yukimura stated in an interview that he thought the anime was superior to the manga because he thought Shhei Yabuta, the director, and the screenwriters, Hiroshi Seko and Kenta Ihara, had a deeper understanding of the manga than he did. He was pleased with how the animation team corrected the original work’s pace difficulties.
The second season’s new studio, MAPPA, took up production duties and unveiled a trailer confirming the debut date of January 9, 2023. Netflix, Crunchyroll, and a few additional unspecified sites will all provide the second season for streaming.
