J(Pocket-lint) – Star Trek: Strange New Worlds just started in July 2022, but the first official look at season two is already out.
If you liked Star Trek: The Original Series (TOS), you’ll love the new Star Trek series from Paramount Plus. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds follows the crew of the USS Enterprise 10 years before Captain Kirk takes over. You get to follow a crew led by characters who first appeared in TOS, like Captain Christopher Pyke (Anson Mount), Spock (Ethan Peck), and Number One (Rebecca Romijn).
They all wear clothes from TOS. Strange New Worlds also doesn’t have the long story arcs of modern Star Trek. Instead, like TOS, each episode is about the crew exploring a new world or mystery and figuring it out in one episode.
What You Need to Know About Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
The crew of the USS Enterprise is shown in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 10 years before Captain Kirk and the events of The Original Series (TOS). The Enterprise is, of course, on a five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, look for new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before.
The series doesn’t have to start with season one, though. The actors who play Captain Pyke, Spock, and Number One all make their first appearances in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery, before they join the USS Enterprise.
Spock, played by Ethan Peck, has a big part to play in Star Trek: Discovery’s second season.
Strange New Worlds is fun because the style of the show makes it possible for many Star Trek easter eggs. Each week, there is only one story, and the crew of the USS Enterprise is always the same. Well, that and the cool style from the 1960s.
When Will Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Come Out?
Strange New Worlds’ second season hasn’t been given a release date yet, but it’s likely to come out sometime in 2023.
Instructions on How to Watch Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
Since the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is accessible on Paramount Plus, it seems likely that the second season will also be available there.
In the United States, the streaming service has a starting price of $4.99 USD per month.
Cast Members From Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’
The majority of the crew that served aboard the USS Enterprise will most likely return for the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. There will, of course, be some new faces, and in this instance, there will also be some new faces that are already familiar.
In Star Trek: The Next Generation, Paul Wesley will play a younger version of James T. Kirk. There is also the possibility that we will see a younger version of Montgomery “Scotty” Scott in the series at some point in the future, although there has been no formal casting announcement as of yet.
Having said that, the shows are certainly ready to recast characters from TOS, so who knows who could make a cameo appearance in a single episode of the new series?
