New Season 3 Trailer for “Star Trek: Picard” Reveals Reuniting of “Next Generation” Cast and Return of Classic Enemies!

The third and final season of Paramount+‘s “Star Trek: Picard” has a new trailer that debuted out of New York Comic Con on Saturday. It features new cast members for the Patrick Stewart-led series, as well as the appearance of some recognizable “Star Trek: The Next Generation” adversaries.

Brent Spiner will return to “Picard,” according to Paramount+, but he won’t be playing Data this time around; instead, he’ll be playing a character “named Lore,” evoking one of the most formidable villains in “Next Generation” history: Data’s evil twin brother Lore, who was vanquished and disassembled at the start of Season 7 of “Next Gen.

” Daniel Davis will also reprise his role as Professor Moriarty from “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” the Holodeck manifestation of a fictional character invented by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to be Sherlock Holmes’ adversary. Moriarty from “Next Gen” eventually developed self-awareness.

But it’s not just that: Amanda Plummer, whose late father, Christopher Plummer, once played “Star Trek” villain General Chang, has joined the cast in a recurring role as Vadic, “the mysterious alien captain of the Shrike, a warship that has set its sights on Jean-Luc Picard and his old crewmates from his days on the Enterprise,” according to the New York Comic Con panel for “Picard’s” final season.

Last but not least, two other notable actors who have been cast in recurring parts for “Picard” are Mica Burton and Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut from the television series Critical Role and Cruel Summer, respectively.

While Mica Burton (LeVar Burton’s real-life daughter) is portraying Ensign Alandra La Forge, Geordi La Forge’s youngest daughter who works alongside her father, Chestnut plays Ensign Sidney La Forge, Geordi La Forge’s eldest daughter and the helmsman of the U.S.S. Titan.

On Thursday, February 16 on Paramount+, “Star Trek: Picard’s” last season debuts. The 10-episode season will release brand-new episodes once a week on Thursdays.

The “Picard” panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday featured executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Terry Matalas, and Rod Roddenberry in an addition to Stewart and cast members LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner.

For all the Paramount Global executives in the room who were listening to the panel and the enthusiastic audience who were praising the concept, Stewart teased how he and the “TNG” ensemble could “still create a movie.” The last season of “Picard” would “absolutely” have a handoff from the “TNG” cast to the “Star Trek: Discovery” ensemble, according to Matalas.
