Former President Donald Trump proposed an unusual solution to the Ukraine situation in a weird speech: emblazoning US fighter jets with Chinese flags and sending them to “bomb the s*** out of Russia.”
The former president recommended the literal false-flag strike during an 84-minute speech at a Republican fundraiser in New Orleans on Saturday.
“And then we say, China did it, we didn’t do it, China did it,” Mr. Trump told a throng of giggling GOP contributors, according to The Washington Post.
The third week of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has passed. According to the United Nations, at least 227 civilians have been killed in Ukraine, and more than 1.2 million have fled the nation.
Mr. Trump lauded Russia’s leader, Vladimir Putin, as “clever,” “wise,” and “brilliant” last month, praising the invasion as “genius.”
“I mean, he’s assuming control of a country for the sake of two dollars in sanctions,” the former president stated on 23 February. “I’d think that’s quite astute.”
Mr. Trump Struck a Different Tone on Saturday.
“Are all of these nations going to stand by and watch while maybe millions of people are slaughtered?” he said, according to CBS News. “At what point do governments declare, ‘No, we cannot accept this heinous crime against humanity?’ We cannot allow this to happen. We cannot allow this to continue.”
Additionally, the Republican stated that had he been President rather than Joe Biden, Mr. Putin would never have dared to invade Ukraine.
“No one has ever been tougher on Russia than I have been,” Mr. Trump stated.
Mr. Trump consistently lauded Mr. Putin during his administration, agreed with him in a public press conference against his own intelligence services, and held up a military aid package to Ukraine while demanding a public inquiry of Mr. Biden’s son, Hunter.
According to the Post’s transcript of Saturday’s speech, the former president also lauded North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, reiterated the claim that he won the 2020 election, termed global warming a “hoax,” and referred to Democratic Representative Adam Schiff as a “watermelon head.”
