Bhuwan Chandra Joshi, the horrible incident
Bhuwan Chandra Joshi, a 19 years old boy was beaten to death by villagers in Almora village on Wednesday 28 April 2021. The boy along with two others was accused of harassing a minor girl. Two of the boys were admitted to a hospital where he was declared dead the next day at noon. The name of the other two accused is Kailash Singh (25) and Lalit Singh (23).
The event took place in the evening on Wednesday when the 16-year-old girl came down to the shop on her house’s ground floor to buy some commodities. The three accused arrived on bikes and approached her, after which witnesses say they started harassing the girl. Some kids who were playing nearby alerted the nearby villagers about the ongoing incident upon which they came and found the boys in a compromising position with the girl.
Thereafter they surrounded the boys and started beating them. Luckily Lalit Singh ran away from the scene which angered the villagers more and they beat Bhuwan Chandra Joshi and Kailash Singh mercilessly.
Some took the liberty and informed the Danyan Police Station about the incident upon which IS Inder Singh reached the scene. The two boys were rescued from the clutches of the villagers and taken into police custody. Lalit Singh, who was on the run was also caught. But by that time Bhuwan and Kailash were already in a bad physical condition.
The police did a medical checkup on three of them at CHC hospital and kept them in custody. During that time the health condition of Bhuwan and Kailash deteriorated and they were admitted to the same hospital. The same night, the minor’s father Tahrir filed a case against the three boys accusing them of molestation under the POSCO act.
By 10 a.m. the next morning, Bhuwan Chandra Joshi’s condition deteriorated further and he was declared dead by noon. The condition of the other boy is said to be stable till now. The third boy remains in Police Custody.
Upon getting the news of death, Bhuwan’s brother Govind Joshi approached the police and filed a complaint. The police registered the case and further investigation regarding Bhuwan’s killing is underway.
