Ritika Phogat was a young seventeen years old wrestling prodigy. She was akin to Geeta and Babita Phogat through her mother’s family. Also, Ritika Phogat received her training under Mahavir Singh Phogat at Haryana’s prestigious training school Mahavir Phogat Sports Academy.
She used to live in Jaitpur village of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. The teen put all her effort and energy to train tirelessly for over five years. Mahavir Phogat was an amateur but his story of encouraging his daughters has made its place in several hearts.
Geeta Phogat is a freestyle wrestler and has won India it’s very first gold medal in Commonwealth Games 2010. She also became India’s first woman wrestler to get qualified for Olympics 2012 London Games. Phogat family is a hotspot of genius wrestlers. Geeta’s sister Babita Phogat managed to win a silver medal in 2010 Commonwealth Games, and a gold medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Ritika Phogat taking her own life is not just sad but also worrisome
A teenager’s brain is very complicated and vulnerable. Even a small failure leaves a great impact. The young girl was to participate in state-level sub-junior, junior women, and men wrestling tournament at the in Bharatpur at Lohagarh Stadium.
But she lost the match and police is suspecting that this might be the reason behind her suicide. Ram Bishnoi has been assigned the duty of investigating this case. He is Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri District Superintendent of Police and he is pinned on her defeat in the match. It’s the only closer and obvious reason as per Bishnoi.
