BSNL Rs.1, 999 plan

In a bid to compete with VI, Jio and Airtel, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has revised its Rs.1999 plan. Earlier the plan was providing unlimited voice calling to any network along with 3GB/day bundled with 100 SMS per day. The plan also included 60 days’ subscription of OTT platform “EROS NOW” and annual subscription of Lokdhun. As per the revised plan, BSNL is now offering 365 days validity for EROS NOW but on the other hand the subscription has been reduced to 6 days. The said plan also includes Personalised Ringback tone (PBRT) with the option of changing the songs during the validity period. The revised plan will be in effect from January 01, 2021.

Users can now get annual benefits of EROS NOW

It is seen that in recent times, telecom companies are coming up with various attractive association with OTT platforms like Amazon Prime, ZEE5 and many more in an attempt to target the youth audience. Therefore, in order to feel its presence in the telecom arena in the present scenario, BSNL introduced Rs.1, 999 plan with subscription of popular movie streaming app “EROS NOW” for 60 days. However, BSNL was quick to revise the plan and has now extended the subscription of “EROS NOW’ for 365 days. But the annual subscription of “Lokdhun” has been reduced to just 60 days. In the earlier plan, it was offering annual subscription of Lokdhun.  There has been no change in other benefits. Like the earlier one, this plan is too providing unlimited calling to any network with FUP, 3 GB date per day (thereafter speed gets reduced to 80kbps). The validity of this revised plan also remains the same and providing 365 days benefits.

Challenges faced by BSNL after arrival of JIO

BSNL, the state owned telco agency, which has been facing losses from quite some years, is making its efforts to remain relevant in present times. With the advent of Jio, BSNL has faced many challenges and it has been forced to come up with customer friendly plans. Let’s see if this “revised “OTT plan can help the BSNL in2021.
