At least 3 people are killed and the other 3 others reported as injured in a fatal shooting incident in the IllinoisBowling Alley, Rockford situated just 80 miles northwest of Chicago. The horrific incident took place on Saturday night when Rockford Police received calls for shooting at Don Carter Lanes Bowling Alley, Illinois. The Police said that when they arrived at the scene the shooter was still in the building. However, they denied any counter operation from police personnel whereas earlier reports claimed that the police responded to the shooting.
Two of the 3 people dead are teenagers, says the Police
The chief of Rockford Police, Dan O’Shea, during a news conference, confirmed that three people were found dead on the spot, of whom two are said to be teenagers and three others who were injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment. According to the Police, the shooting happened inside and
outside of the bowling alley. It is uncertain if the deceased people were employees of the bowling alley patrons. However, no details were shared by the police regarding the exact ages of victims, the extent of injuries. A suspect has been taken into custody in what the authorities believe to be a “random attack”.
The police didn’t share any additional information about the suspect. The investigation is still going on and the police requested the residents on Twitter to stay away from the Don Carter’s area.2020 has been the most unfortunate year for the city Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara condemned this incident and took to Facebook to express his anger. In his statement posted on Facebook, he said that he is both sad and angered by the unfortunate shooting incident at the bowling alley. He also expressed his sympathy for the victim’s family and hoped for their speedy recovery.2020 has been the city’s deadliest year for homicides with 35 people, as reported by the Rockford Register Star. The previous year was 1996 where homicides claimed 31 lives.
