Urmila Matondkar all set To Join Forces With Shiv Sena Today, resigned from Congress last year

Though it is really unknown what Bollywood actor Urmila Matondkar’s next political shift will be, reports arising from Mumbai are suggesting that actor-turned-politician is confirmed to join Shiv Sena, led by Uddhav Thackeray, today. She had resigned from Congress last year as there were no fruits of her services. This was a key move of the Shiv Sena’s Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, which had inner-circle politics as its main reason for her departure from the Congress. Throwing shade at this incident, Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP and chief spokesperson Sanjay Raut had announced on Monday that the Bollywood actor will be joining the Shiv Sena family on December 1 and will continue to remain so, as per the contracts.

Urmila Matondkar

Shiv Sena Recruited Her In The Hopes Of Boosting Their Party’s Performance

Urmila is most likely to join the party by addressing a press conference in the presence of Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and State Minister Aaditya Thackeray. The actor had first unsuccessfully contested at the 2019 Lok Sabha elections as a Congress candidate. The party had already finished nominating Matondkar and had recommended her name with 11 others to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, and he is yet to respond. The Print had informed by Manisha Kayande, a Shiv Sena MLC, that since Urmilla is a full-blooded Mumbaiite, comes across as clear and genuine in her thoughts- as seen in her campaign during the Lok Sabha polls and her interviews- well-read in Marathi literature and speaks fluent Hindi, Marathi, and English, she will be an essential asset to boost the party’s performance. The actor has still not responded to The Print’s contacts for seeking her comment.

Matondkar’s Argument With Kangana Ranaut Impressed The Party

Multiple sources from Shiv Sena had informed them that party leaders were quite impressed with the way Urmila had slammed actor Kangana Ranaut during a war or words with her. The controversy first began with Ranaut tweeting that she fears the Mumbai police than the movie mafia, with which she was responded by the Shiv Sena asking her to leave the Maharashtra capital if she feels that way. Ranaut then compared Mumbai with “Pakistan-occupied Kashmir”, which triggered Shiv Sena, resulting in them serving a demolition notice, in the span of 24 hours, to Ranaut’s office bungalow for alleged illegal construction. Urmila, who has acted in various films such as Masoon, Satya and Rangeela, spat back at Ranaut for her inclination of Mumbai with “Pakistan-occupied Kashmir”, her comments on drug abuse spreading in the industry and nepotism being dominant in Bollywood, ordering her to take a look at her own home state of Himachal Pradesh. Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi swooned over Urmila’s experience and credible profile. Being extremely pleased with her attitude, the MP praised her for her graceful conduct during the controversy and for speaking up for Bollywood when the entire industry was silent about it saying that those are the true, small values which are really important in every human being.
