Actress Poonam Pandey has been arrested in North Goa for indulging in an obscene video shoot. Her arrest was issued after a complaint was filed against her by the local opposition party, Goa Forward, which had accused Pandey of participating in a “porn” photoshoot in a property owned by the Goa government’s Water Resources department. The Goa Police on Wednesday had filed an FIR against anonymous people after “provocative” pictures of her photoshoot that happened at the Chapel dam site in Canacona, was being shared on social media. Her offence was registered under the IPC, with the women’s wing of the Goa Forward Party filing a complaint against Pandey for engaging in vulgarity and obscenity at the Chapoli Dam.
Filed FIR Against Toxic Husband But No Action Taken So Far
In September, Pandey had filed an FIR against her husband Sam Bombay for inflicting pain, criminal intimidation and molestation at the Canacona police station and had also filed a complaint claiming that her husband assaulted her and threw death threats at her. The couple was found honeymooning in Goa, reports confirm. On Tuesday, Pandey had posted a picture of herself celebrating Karwa Chauth, her first as a married woman with husband Sam Bombay. The couple tied the knot on September 1, 2020 in a small, private ceremony and shared the pictures on social media handles which was talked about frequently. Though there are reports saying they will get separated sooner or later, she still waits for her complaints to be responded.
Fans Deeply Upset and Angered With Goa’s Double Standards and Misogyny
Fans and feminists took to social media by storm when they heard the news that Pandey’s arrest was on the sole basis of her “exposing her body”, many retweeted and reposted the news on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, by mentioning Milind Soman’s naked run on a beach in Goa, and how netizens glorified and had no problems with him. The 55-year-old was photographed by his 26-year-old wife while he randomly decided to have a run across the beach stark-naked. Fans were furious on the double standards and misogynistic behaviour of Goa Forward indirectly telling a woman what to do with her body and demanded for bail and to arrest Soman too. With feminism, self-love and “smash the patriarchy” being powerful and trending movements in today’s youth, netizens are yet to calm down from their rebellious hatred.
