Just a day before the US Presidential elections, Jayapal decided to cook her favorite food “paneer tikka”, as a tribute to Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris. Netizens were surprised to see #PaneerTikka trending on Twitter, along with popular names such as Donald Trump, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris. Well, turns out that the infamously delicious Indian appetizer has found a spot on the trending list due to a tweet by Indian-American Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal. Just hours before the elections, Jayapal decided to cook her comfort food “paneer tikka” in honor of Kamala Harris, who had earlier announced that her favorite North Indian dish was “any kind of tikka.” But it seems that the Congresswoman’s version of the dish was not approved by most of the desi taste buds of netizens.
Paneer Tikka With Gravy; Pramila Unintentionally Transformed It Into Paneer Tikka Masala:-
She tweeted, saying that it was a compulsive, “night-before-election” activity, in honor of electing Kamala Harris tomorrow, since she just revealed on Instagram that her favorite North Indian dish is any kind of Tikka. “Let’s go people! VOTE #BidenHarris2020” tweeted Jayapal while sharing a picture of her cookies dish. She had also generously shared the recipe in another tweet as it was “on popular demand.” However, not soon after her tweet, Indians were quick to criticize her dish as it triggered a wave of disapproval from North Indian experts, who commented that the traditional paneer tikka is never served with gravy. Many Twitter users, shared pictures of different varieties of dishes with wrong names, such as naming paav bhaji as “masala dosa” and the official paneer tikka as “rasgulla”, as a show of meek mockery against the Congresswoman’s post.
