Universal Pictures announced Madonna Biopic, written directed herself

On Tuesday, Universal Pictures announced that the studio is planning to develop an untitled project. It will be based on the life of the pop-star, Madonna. Moreover, Madonna will be directing the film herself! She will also be co-writing the screenplay along with Diablo Cody. The pop-star wants the film to convey her incredible journey as an artist, musician, and human being. Through her film, she also wishes to show the audience how she came up and rose to fame.

Madonna’s vision for her biopic

Madonna has admitted that music will be the main focus of her film. Further, she admitted that music and art have kept her alive. She believes that she is the best person to tell her own story, which is true! Moreover, she is keen on sharing her voice and vision with the audience.

Additionally, the film will be produced by Amy Pascal, who also produced  A League of their Own. The film was released in 1992, and it featured Madonna as the co-star.

Chairman of the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, Donna Langley, hailed this project. She really appreciated Madonna and her talent. Additionally, she mentioned that everyone at Universal is really excited to work alongside her, Diablo, and Amy. They are truly honored to be a part of this project. She further said,

Moreover, Pascal described it as “absolute labor of love”. She admitted to having worked with Madonna previously. The two of them knew each other since 1992. She further expressed her excitement to collaborate with Madonna, Diablo, and their partners at Universal. She is also looking forward to bringing Madonna’s beautiful story to the big screens.

Madonna previously directed the 2008 British drama Filth and Wisdom. She also directed the 2011 period drama W.E., with Abbie Corning and Andrea Riseborough. Furthermore, the 62-year-old celebrity’s latest album, Madame X, has sold 335 million copies worldwide.
