Ronald ‘Khalis’ Bell, singer, Co-Founder of Kool and the Gang, Dies at 68


Ronald “Khalis” Bell, the self-taught musician dies at 68. He was the co-founder and singer of Kool & the Gang. It is one of the biggest bands of the 1970s. He died at his home in the U.S. Virgin Islands on Wednesday. His wife Tia Sinclair Bell was by his side. But the cause of death is still not known to anyone. He was born on November 1, 1951. He formed a band in 1964 initially called the Jazziacs. The made this along with his brother Robert “Kool” Bell. He was working on a series of collaborations including a solo endeavor. The name of the band Kool Baby Brotha band. However, he even had plans of putting together a series of animated shorts called kool TV. Thus this was all about their childhood and career. He is also survived by 10 children.

KHALIS, Biggest hits

Bell co-wrote many of the group’s biggest hits. These include Ladies Night, Jungle Boogie. The band’s No. 1 hit Celebration band Summer Madness which was used in several films, including Rocky. Also in 2006 featuring LeBron James the song was used in a Nike shoe commercial. However, the band went through various changes before settling on their famous moniker kool and the Gang. Hence, finally launches in 1969. Open Sesame is one of the classic hits of the band.


As there are various awards that are won by the band. Therefore some of them are Grammy in 1978. This was won for their work in the soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever. Later, the group was honored with a BET Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award in 2914. This had also inducted into the songwriter Hall of Fame four years later. They got international success with their disco crossover smashes Ladies Night. With this the group going on to rack up seven Top 10 and 18 Top 40 singles in the UK alone.

Kool & the Gang’s music is also featured in several blockbuster films. These include Rocky, Saturday Night Fever, and Pulp Fiction. Later to the date the band earned two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits. Along with this they also won nine Top Ten Pop hits, and 31 gold and platinum albums. He was one of the talented musicians. He even won various awards and titles in his entire life. Thus we can say that he was such an inspiration to everyone.
