HS2 rail project, On Friday 4th September the most controversial project of high-speed railways has been started. The project has promised of 22,000 jobs over the next few years. High speed 2 tracks to Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly are expected to create space for additional train paths on the corridors. This will be to the Crewe and Stockport. This will provide more options for frequent locals or regional services. On 15 April 2019 the department for transport gave approval for HS2 Ltd to issue a Notice to Proceed to the four Main Works Civils Contractors working on the project to commence full detailed design.

The cost of the project is under £56bn. This official price tag was set out in the 2015 budget. However, the government believes that the project may be cost doubled. The last figure which was estimated was £106bn. This over budget might be due to the problems of digging and excavation. Even also the initial estimate was wrong according to the reports.
