German Naval Ship Visits Pier 7

The German combat support ship Bonn (A 1413) is docked at Pier 7, near the foot of Atlantic Avenue, this weekend. Crew members, of which there are about 230, will no doubt be found shopping, dining, and drinking in nearby establishments while the ship is in port.

Bonn is quite a hefty vessel, with a length of 173.7 meters (about 600 feet) and a displacement tonnage of 20,000. Another ship of the same class, Frankfurt-am-Main (A 1412), visited here in May of 2009.
