The lightning strike last August on historic Christ Church Cobble Hill, which caused the death of a pedestrian walking by the Church, also did significant damage to the historic building. As a result, the Church has been closed for necessary extensive rebuilding. This has not only displaced the congregation and clergy, but also other community organizations and activities that have used the Church’s facilities.
This coming Saturday, April 27, starting at 7:00 p.m., the Friends of Christ Church Cobble Hill, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization formed to raise funds for the Church’s restoration, will present “Spring Up: Bizet to Broadway,” a gala evening of cabaret, featuring excerpts from Bizet’s beloved opera Carmen, along with hors d’ouvres, wine, and dessert after the performances, at Plymouth Church, 75 Hicks Street (between Orange and Cranberry; accessible entrance through garden entrance on Orange between Hicks and Henry). Tickets are $75 per person and may be purchased here.
