First Arrest in P.S. 29 Playground Destruction; Lander Comes Out Against Jail Time

Max Layton, the son of film distributor Charles Layton (The King’s Speech) has been arrested in connection to the playground blaze at P.S. 29 the NY Daily News reports.

The paper adds that four of the nine punks who set the blaze attend the tony St. Ann’s School in Brooklyn Heights.

The skells-in-waiting have retained a lawyer who said last week that their parents have created a $50K fund to pay for the damage.

Our man in the NYC Council, Brad Lander, tells the paper:

City Councilman Brad Lander (D-Cobble Hill) said Monday the teens should be arrested but not jailed. Instead, Lander said the teens should be “held accountable” and perform community service.
