Open Thread: Best Cobble Hill Pizza

pizzaman.jpgWho has the best pizza in Cobble Hill? Do you need to trek out of the neighborhood to get a top quality slice? Who delivers the fastest? And what about Domino’s and Papa John’s, do they belong anywhere near us, and for that matter anywhere in Brooklyn?

Cobble Hill Artist Profiled

The Brooklyn Eagle profiles Cobble Hillbilly/artist Diana Horowitz, known for her landscapes of industrial Brooklyn, in today’s edition:

Brooklyn Eagle: Diana Horowitz…: “It’s not what people expect from the Gowanus Canal,” said Shelley Farmer, director of Hirschl and Adler Modern, the Manhattan Gallery showing 30 of Horowitz’s paintings through March 22. On the other hand, she says, “Most people who come into this show haven’t even been to Gowanus or Red Hook.”

Horowitz, 49, has lived in Cobble Hill since 1991, and she has been to Gowanus and Red Hook many, many times.

Open Thread: Real Housewives of NYC Week 2

So, what did you think of last night’s show? Comment below.. also check out Cobble Hillbilly Alex McCord’s blog:

luann_ep1_02_320×240.jpgAlex’s Blog: Simon and I chose French as the language for the boys (for now) by default, because it is the language he and I are both strongest in after English. One could argue that in the US Spanish might be more useful, but neither of us is strong in it unfortunately. The other choices would have been Italian or German, but those are tied for 3rd in terms of our fluency and between the three, French is more widely spoken.

CHB Confirms Alex McCord’s Cobble Hillbilly-ness

nabes.jpg

Using our SUPERPOWERS aka Google, Wikipedia and Photoshop we have definitive proof that Real Housewives of New York’s Alex McCord does indeed live within the boundries of Cobble Hill. CHB community member “A Real Cobble Hill housewife” had disputed this fact last week:

She’s real, but she’s not ours. Alex McCord does not live in Cobble Hill. She lives on Butler Street in Boerum Hill, a wonderful neighborhood in its own right.

As you can see McCord lives in Cobble Hill (Green Area). We’ve dubbed the area between Atlantic, Warren, Smith & Court as the “DMZ” since both Cobble and Boerum Hills claim that turf as their own (depending on who you’re talking to, what day it is and how much you’ve had to drink).
