The CHB reader, who alerted us to the tennis bubble collapse at the NYSC (96 Boerum Place) in Cobble Hill, sent us this photo taken by Savannah Shyne of the devastation.
CHB Blizzard Survey
The investigation into why this blizzard was so poorly handled will take quite some time to unravel. In the meantime, what is your most outrageous, dangerous or inconsiderate observation about all this snow? Feel free to include any positive instances of neighbors helping neighbors or kids having fun, this might help as we wait for the big melt and 2011 to arrive.
NYTimes: Giant Icicle Terrorizes Cobble Hill
With a title like: Giant Icicle Terrorizes Cobble Hill one immediately thinks of a 1950s horror film or something from “The Onion”. But as they say… “You can’t make this stuff up!”. The New York Times has definitely lived up to their motto of providing “all the news that’s fit to print”.
Blizzard Video from Cobble Hill
The video above, said to be of “[s]nowy weather outside [L]ong [I]sland [C]ollege [H]ospital”, was posted anonymously this evening on CNNiReport.
Today in Cooklyn
NYC set a record high for July 6th temperatures this afternoon, clocking in at 102 degrees when measured in Central Park. And given the heavy humidity, the heat index was as high as 109. Whew! Still short of the all-time high of 106.
It was even hotter inside this parked car. And at 4:30 even!
