“There is an element of some poorly behaved late-teenage kids in this neighborhood,” said resident Naidre Miller. “My gut reaction is that it’s malicious vandalism for the sake of it. Hooliganism.”

The 37-year-old victim told cops that he was on the southbound platform under Smith and President streets at around noon when he was surrounded by five teens with bad intentions.

When one post-pubescent punk grabbed his phone, the victim wrestled with the underage thugs, to no avail.

But Transit cop Rene Soto was on the scene quicker than you can say “Steve Jobs” and arrested three of the five member crew, two aged 15, and the third aged 16-years-old.

The BP reports this morning that a huge cache of illegal fireworks nabbed on Ocean Avenue have made their way to the 76th Precinct. Read the full story here.

“Anything fireworks-related is a big deal — but we had no idea we’d come across this much,” said a police source, who invited us to the 76th Precinct in Cobble Hill to show off the stash, in hopes that it would deter folks from seeking out the contraband.

The suspect, 32-year-old Edguardo Diaz of Sheepshead Bay, faces criminal misdemeanor charges of dealing fireworks.

Police think Diaz purchased the nearly $5,000 worth of explosives in Pennsylvania – and that’s where your friendly correspondent is headed for the July 4th weekend. Do not fret, dear readers; I will not bring any of them back to New York.

And I will return with all my fingers.

I wonder if Acme has a Pennsylvania outlet…

Courier Life reports on the latest crime at the Court Street Trader Joe’s:

Courier Life: A thief snatched a wallet from a woman’s pocket book while she shopped at the Court Street Trader Joe’s on June 11 — the latest in a series of purse snatchings at the popular grocery store.

The victim told cops that she had left her purse sitting in her shopping cart while she shopped at around 1 pm. When she went to check out, she realized that her wallet, containing an assortment of IDs, credit cards, and $100, was missing.

Last month, cops orchestrated a string at the sketchy grocery store that netted a thief. Upon hearing the news of the latest incident, a police source said, “We got to go back there again!”

Brooklyn Paper: According to police, two officers fanned out inside the store, with one officer and a sergeant remaining outside. One cop pretended to shop — and then drift away from her cart and the pocketbook on it — while the other officer kept watch from a distance.

At around 2:30 pm, a thief grabbed the purse — which contained $20 — and ran out of the store into an awaiting car.

But he didn’t get far. The inside officer had already radioed a description of the perp to the outside officer, who moved in quickly and arrested the suspect, who was also in possession of a small quantity of marijuana, which is not sold at the otherwise mellow supermarket.

“We have to wait for him to leave the store,” Corey said. “Otherwise, he could say, ‘I was just going to return it to the cashier.’ ”

Our suggestion “Operation What’s the Opposite of Above Me” clearly didn’t make the cut. But we think that’s because only 25% of the busts were in the market for that particular service the report says. Perhaps “Operation 3 Nuts in Search of a Bolt” would have been better. Which family friendly name would you have given this buy and bust initiative?

Assembly member Joan Millman responded today to reports of an assault that happened last week near the corner of Luquer Street and Hamilton Avenue that sent the victim the hospital.

Last Tuesday, March 2, around 1 a.m. police found a 22-year-old man who was assaulted by five males while they uttered anti-gay slurs to him. He suffered lacerations to the back of the head and bruises to his face and was sent to the hospital in stable condition.

“I am outraged to hear of this hateful verbal and physical attack that took place in my Assembly District, and I extend my deepest sympathies to the victim,” Millman said. “I am confident that the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Unit will investigate this assault to the fullest of its abilities. Any person with information about this crime is urged to contact the NYPD’s 76th Precinct Detective Squad directly at 718-834-3221.”

There may be a link between the anti-Semitic leaflets that were handed out in Boerum Hill and Cobble Hill on Tuesday and this weekend’s anti-gay, anti-Jewish rallies being organized by the militant Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, according to an investigation being conducted by the 76th Precinct.

Brooklyn Paper: Handwritten notes reading “Kill Jews” in black marker were found at the corner of Clinton and President streets and along Atlantic Avenue between Smith and Boerum streets.

Sgt. Vinny Marrone of the 76th Precinct said police are investigating whether the hate message were done to promote Saturday’s rally by the Westboro Baptist Church at the Kane Street Synagogue at nearby Tompkins Place.

“But this also happens every year during the Jewish holidays,” Marrone added. “Someone always wants to ruin their good time when they’re celebrating.”

At approximately 4:40 pm this afternoon, a large tree branch fell from a tree inside Carroll Park. The branch fell in the vicinity of the the World War I memorial, on the Carroll Street side of the park. 1 man received what we believe are very minor injuries, and was removed to the hospital for evaluation. Fortunately, no other people were injured, and there were no serious injuries. Specialists from the Parks Department are already on the scene evaluating the condition of that tree, as well as all of the other trees in the park, and will take appropriate steps to ensure the safety of park-goers.

Two men were assaulted and robbed when entering the subway station at Joralemon and Court streets early Saturday June 27. Between five assailants surrounded the victims, 16 and 29, taking their umbrella and beating them over the head with it. After punching and bruising the victims, one of the attackers brandished a gun and asked “Do you want to get shot?” He ordered the men to empty their pockets, and the group made off with one of the victims black Prada dress shoes, an iPod and a cell phone.

A man was assaulted with an umbrella at the Regal Theatres on Court Street on June 22. Just past midnight, the man was beaten over the head and taken to the hospital. The female suspect was arrested and charged with assault.

Nearly $1600 was stolen from the registers and safe of the KFC on 4th Avenue between St. Marks Place and Warren Street on June 25. An armed robber, brandishing a firearm, entered the joint around 8:30 a.m. and ordered two employees to empty the registers and safe. He made off with the cash and headed westbound on Warren Street.

Nearly $1,200 in cash was stolen from the Fulton Mall Dunkin Donuts, located between Smith Street and Gallatin Place, just before 11 p.m. on June 24. Two perps entered the establishment and made their way down to the lower level management office, where a manager was counting cash from the day. The men, who concealed their faces, threatened the manager with a gun, before making off with the cash and his cell phone.

Two vehicles were stolen within a matter of hours on June 22, after their owners left the keys in the ignition to run in somewhere to make a delivery. Just past 5 p.m., a man returned to find his blue 2004 Ford van, along with his cell phone and tuxedo, missing after he made a delivery to Porta Bella, on Livingston Street at Nevins Street.

Later, just before 11 p.m., a man had his 2004 Buick Rendezvous stolen while making a delivery to a residence on Joralemon Street, between Hicks Street and Willow Place.

Over $600 in cash was taken from a handbag in a clothing boutique on Fulton Street between Elm Place and Bond Street. The victim left her bag hanging on the handle of her stroller, and later found the empty bag on a display case.

Here, finally, are your blotters:

Cops arrested two punks for stealing iPods and cellphones from two victims — the first of whom identified the punks during the second crime. The first incident happened at 11 pm on June 8 just outside the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station, when eight perps surrounded two guys and asked to use their cellphones. Two punks then hit the victims in the head, grabbed their backpacks, and raced away southbound on Hoyt Street. Cops came to the scene and drove around the neighborhood with the two victims, looking out for the perps.

An hour later: victory. As the cops and victims were canvassing, they discovered the hoodlums at it again on Livingston Street, between Bond Street and Hanover Place, where they had just asked a victim to use his phone. One perp said he had a knife and the second said he had a gun, so the victim handed over his phone without a fight. The cops jumped out of the squad car and chased the perps, arresting two of the three perps, ages 14 and 15.

On June 12, a burglar broke into a man’s 2008 Mercedes sedan that he parked in a Schermerhorn Street garage, smashing the windows and stealing the man’s wallet and briefcase. The man parked in the lot, which is between Nevins Street and Third Avenue, at 8:10 pm, but when he came back at 9:45 pm, the damage was done.

In other news, cops arrested four punks after they beat up a 14-year-old boy on the G-train on June 11. There were seven more punks in the gang, who punched and kicked their victim in the head, face, and arms before snatching his Sidekick cellphone and sending him to the hospital. The incident happened around 5 pm while the victim was on the southbound G-train, and the boys ran out at the Hoyt-Schermerhorn station. Cops surrounded the boys, grabbed four, but weren’t able to get the phone back.

Cops arrested a thief after stealing five belts and punching a street vendor in the face on June 11. At around 2 pm at a lot on Schmerhorn Street, at Bond Street, the victim was peddling belts to passersby when the perp raced by and grabbed the belts, worth $25. The victim went to get them back, but the perp punched him and kept going. Cops apprehended the thief several blocks later.

There were several robberies in the subway this week — and a small victory for Brooklynites who cars have been stolen borough-wide. For more neighborhood crimes, see Brooklyn Heights Blog.

First up, cops recovered one of the stolen cars from last week’s BHB blotter. A perp stole a man’s Honda sedan from the corner of Adams and Sands street on May 26, but cops found it two days later on Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene. The only thing missing was the car’s radio and spare key, and cops said the thieves didn’t break any windows, locks, or the ignition.

On June 3, just before 4 pm, a punk reached over to a fellow G-train straphanger and snatched her iPhone from her hands. The perp then darted out of the train at the Bergen Street station.

A churchgoing thief stole $3,500 from a woman’s purse at a Bergen Street church on June 2, just before 5 pm. The victim told cops she left her purse on a table in the church’s lobby, which is between Nevins Street and Third Avenue, but when she turned around five minutes later, the cash was gone.

A perp stole a rented car on June 1 that was parked on Dean Street, scoring — however inadvertently — a brand new swing set that the driver had just purchased for his toddler. The victim told cops he left the car between Third and Fourth avenues at 2 pm, but when he came back four hours later, everything was gone. The perp also acquired the man’s car seat.

The boy was walking to school along Smith Street, when he passed the panhandler between Wyckoff and Bergen streets. The man asked the boy for money, who said he didn’t have any and kept walking. That’s when the perp grabbed the boy’s arm, held it tightly, and said, “You are lying. Now, give me money.” The boy pulled out a dollar bill from his pocket and handed it over, but the man replied, “You have more money than that.” The boy ran away and went to school, and told cops the man was black and about 5’5”, and weighed 160 pounds.

More crimes from Brooklyn Heights at BHB.

A lady perp snatched a woman’s wallet from her purse on May 24, as the 51-year-old victim was walking along Bond Street. The incident happened around 2 pm between Fulton and Livingston streets, and nearby surveillance tapes caught the action. Cops are studying the tapes for a description of the perp.

A thug stole $2,500 from a donation basket at a mosque on State Street on May 21. Cops are studying surveillance tapes that show the perp reaching into the box at 2:50 pm, but are still figuring out what he looks like.

There were two construction accidents in the neighborhood last week, both on May 28. The first incident happened just after 7 pm, at a site on Pacific Street, at Nevins Street. A man put a bag down at the site for five minutes, but when he came back it was gone. The burglar scored $5,750 worth of laptops, cashiers checks, a digital camera, and a WiFi card.

The second happened at 9 pm, when a police officer saw a perp break into a site along Atlantic Avenue, at Hoyt Street, and followed him inside. The cop arrested the man when he found part of a broken lock and bolt cutters in the man’s pockets.

Inside the Hoyt/Schermerhorn subway station on May 28, four punks stole a victim’s Blackberry, just after 7 pm. One of the perps grabbed the man’s Blackberry as they passed each other on the stairs, while his three accomplices blocked the victim from chasing the thief, who ran out of the station.

And then, on May 15, a 14-year-old girl was on the northbound R-train at 7:30 pm when a man came up to her and tried to steal her Sidekick cellphone from her hand. The girl refused, and the man pulled out a knife and slashed her hand, before darting out of the car at the Pacific/Fourth Avenue subway station. The girl left go, and called cops when she got home.

And in one major burglary, a perp broke into a popular antiques store on Atlantic Avenue, between Hoyt and Bond streets, and stole nearly $3,000 worth of antiques. The incident happened between April 29 at 11 am and April 30 at 4 pm, and the burglar made off with a bronze statue worth $2,400 and a Chinese vase worth $500.

There was one assault and robbery last week, when two thugs attacked their 20-year-old victim on April 27 on State Street, near Third Avenue, as he walked home from work. The incident happened at 12:30 am, when one perp grabbed the victim by his neck and the second perp punched him, and then rifled through the victim’s pockets. There, he found $300, and the two men ran away. The victim told cops the perps are 5’10,” weight about 150 pounds, and one has long dreadlocks.

In the first car theft incident, a man parked his car on May 1 at the southeast corner of Bond and State streets at 11:30 am. He went shopping, but when he came back five hours later, the car was gone and no other car was in the spot.

On April 28, someone stole a woman’s Yamaha motorcycle from the southeast corner of Dean and Smith streets, between 2:15 and 2:30 pm. The woman was borrowing the bike from a friend, and darted into a shop to quickly buy something. But, when she came back it was gone.

And, in an all-too-common crime, a gym rat at a popular Boerum Place gym had his things stolen from his locker on April 26. The incident happened around 2 pm at the facility, which is between Pacific and Dean streets, when the man came back to his locker and found that his three credit cards were stolen, and the thief had already made purchases at a Court Street hardware store. The perp also stole the man’s iPod and Blackberry.

In other news, a man robbed the Sovereign Bank on Atlantic Avenue at Court Street on April 24, making off with $18,000. The incident happened just before 11 am when the man walked into the bank, skipped the line, passed the teller a note demanding the cash and threatening to shoot her. Cops said the man did not display a gun or otherwise injure anyone, but the teller handed over $18,000 without asking questions, and not in a dye-pack bag. Cops are searching for the 5’8” Hispanic man, who weighs 160 pounds and is around age 20.

There were a series of subway muggings this week. First up, on April 21, a woman was walking up the stairs at the Hoyt Street 2/3-train station just before 11 pm, when a man ran up from behind her, grabbed her purse, and raced out of the stairwell. He made off with $150, her cellphone, and wallet.

Then, on April 23, a perp grabbed a woman’s iPhone on the northbound F-train, just as it was leaving the Bergen Street station. The woman told cops she was playing with the phone at 7:50 pm, when suddenly the man grabbed it and darted out of the train. She and a fellow straphanger chased after him, but the perp whipped out a box cutter, threatened them, and ran off. Cops caught up with him, grabbed the 16-year-old punk, and recovered the woman’s phone.

It was a quiet week in the 76th precinct, and there weren’t any crimes at all in the Cobble Hill area. The 84th Precinct blotter did have a few incidents in the Boerum Hill area, and for incidents in Brooklyn Heights and Downtown, check out Brooklyn Heights Blog. Here’s a round-up:

Cops nabbed a 49-year-old perp after he stole a spirited elderly man’s laptop, as the victim was walking along Pacific Street on his way to get the computer fixed. The incident happened on April 20 at 10 am, when the perp pushed the victim to the ground just as he reached Hoyt Street. The perp grabbed the computer, and ran eastbound on Pacific Street, but the 70-year-old man leapt up and chased the perp. Cops joined in the foot chase soon after, and apprehended the thug.

Two roommates were robbed on April 15, after a man broke into their Court Street apartment within a two-hour window and made of with two laptops. One victim left the apartment, which is between State and Schermerhorn streets, at 6 pm. But by the time he came back at 8, his front door had been broken open and the computers were gone.

Another burglar broke into a woman’s Atlantic Avenue apartment on April 15, prying open her door with a crowbar and stealing two laptops and a pair of diamond earrings. The woman left her apartment, which is between Clinton and Court streets, at 10 am, but when she got home later that evening, her door had been smashed and her things were gone.

A woman arrived home on April 15 to her Nevins Street apartment, only to discover a man trying to pick her front door lock. The incident happened at 10:30 pm, near Wyckoff Street. The man quickly left the scene, and the woman immediately called a locksmith to change the locks. Then, she called the cops.

Burglars broke into a Court Street catering service on April 15, cleaning out the store’s cash boxes and stealing two laptops. The incident happened overnight, and when an employee got to the store — which is between Wyckoff and Bergen Streets — at 6 am the next morning, he noticed that a perp had unlocked the door, broken into the office, and smashed through the safe. All told, the perp stole $18,230 in cash, two chef knives, a briefcase, and the computers.

On April 13, a thief stole a man’s Honda motorcycle, which was parked on Wyckoff Street, near Smith Street. The man left his bike at 11:30 am, but when he came back an hour later it was already gone.

Here’s a round-up of last week’s crime in the Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, and Boerum Hill area:

A perp broke into a woman’s jeep on April 2, after she parked it overnight on Tompkins Place, between Kane and DeGraw streets. The thug smashed through the driver’s side window, and stole over $3,500 worth of electronics, a GPS, and the woman’s expensive sunglasses. Cops were able to recover the goods, but it was unclear whether they arrested the man or if they found them discarded elsewhere.

A thug punched a 15-year-old kid twice in the mouth in an attempt to mug him, but didn’t get any goods. The incident happened on April 8 at 3:30 pm, when the boy was walking southbound on Smith Street, near Dean Street. As he approached the corner, the perp grabbed him and punched him, which later required emergency dental surgery. The perp fled the scene, but cops are reviewing surveillance tapes to try and identify him.

A robber stole a woman’s wallet in the Trader Joe’s supermarket on Court Street on April 8. The woman told cops she was returning an item around 1 pm and put her wallet back in her bag when the transaction was done. But when she reached into her bag later, she realized that the wallet was gone.

Cops arrested a 17-year-old boy after he beat up a classmate outside Cobble Hill High School on April 8. The incident happened at 12:30, when the perp approached his victim, said, “What do you have in your pocket?,” and then grabbed the boy’s pants. The victim said, “That’s my wallet,” and held onto it through his pant leg. The perp wrestled the wallet from his 15-year-old prey, but cops caught up with him, recovered the wallet and made the arrest.

Cops arrested a perp on April 9 after he stole a woman’s iPod from her hand as she got out of the F-train at Bergen Street. The incident happened at 6:30 pm, and cops grabbed the 17-year-old perp as he darted out of the station, recovering the woman’s iPod.

Update: We just spoke with the officers at the 76th precinct, and have the following two crimes to add to this week’s blotter:

House arrest
A perp broke into a President Street house on March 23 while the owner was at home alone in the basement. The incident happened around 10:15 am, when the woman heard footsteps above her and ran upstairs. But by htat point, the burglar had fled the scene — and taken her purse, laptop, iPhone, and $200 cash with him. Cops said the burglar got into the top-floor apartment, which is between Henry and Clinton streets, by climbing up the fire escape and breaking into a back window.

Cold, hard cash
A hoodlum on the sidewalk mugged a woman as she was driving down Clinton Street on March 25. The incident happened at 8 pm when the woman turned right onto Verandah Place, and noticed that a man had been following her from the sidewalk for about a block. As she turned, he walked into the street and blocked her path. He then put his hand in his pocket, acted like he had a gun, and said, “Give me your cash. Don’t scream, or I’ll shoot you.” The woman reached into her purse and pulled out $21, handed it calmly to the man, and watched as he fled eastbound down Verandah Place.

The following crimes are from the 84th precinct’s crime blotter:

Gunpoint mugging
A man mugged a woman at gunpoint on March 27 just as she was walking into her Dean Street apartment building. The incident happened around 2:40 pm when the woman started to open her door, which is near Nevins Street, when suddenly the man appeared next to her, pulled out a black handgun, and told her to go into her house.
The victim told cops he told her, “Give me your money and get down on the floor.” The woman complied, and handed him her wallet, iPod, laptop, Blackberry, and purse.
Cops are looking for the man, who the woman described as a medium-skinned Hispanic man with a mustache and short curly brown hair, who weighs 140 pounds and is 5’5”.

Train pains
On March 23, a victim was about to enter the subway station at Pacific Street and Fourth Avenue around 2:30 pm when suddenly five punks surrounded him. Two of the perps held the victim’s arms, while a third grabbed his cellphone. All told, there were five perps — and cops were able to chase down and arrest two. The cellphone was gone, however.

Grand theft auto
On March 29, a perp broke into a woman’s car and stole her purse and keys. The woman parked her car near the corner of Pacific and Nevins streets at 11:30 am, but when she came back at 2:45 pm, her driver’s side door was busted and her things were missing.

And on March 26, a hoodlum hotwired a man’s car that was parked on Pacific Street, near Hoyt Street, and stole it. The man parked the car at 9:50 am, but by the time he came back an hour later, his 2008 Honda sedan was gone and there was no broken glass at the scene.

iPunch
A lady robber stole a woman’s iPod near the corner of Pacific Street and Fourth Avenue, but the victim fought back and punched the would-be robber in the face. Cops arrested the perp, and recovered the iPod. The incident happened on March 23, just after 8 am.

Smash and grab
A burglar broke into a Wyckoff Street apartment on Mach 26, making off with rolls of quarters worth $50. The incident happened sometime between 2:30 and 9 pm, when the homeowner was out. He told cops that he shut his primary door, but may not have locked it, but the burglar did smash through the secondary door. Cops are reviewing surveillance footage from the building, which is between Hoyt and Smith streets, for any clues.

Home-burglar
Burglars broke into at least two homes last week, stealing goods and confounding homeowners and cops in the process.

The first incident happened in a Douglas Street building on March 11, sometime between 11:30 am and 4 pm. The victim, who lives near Hoyt Street, came home to find that two perps had smashed off his doorknob and broken into his apartment. The man said he was missing two saws worth $200 total, a screwgun, and his toolbox. The perps didn’t get far in the apartment — the victim kept those tools in his front hallway, cops said. A witness told cops she saw two people at the door, but didn’t get a good look at them and didn’t see where they went.

The second incident happened on March 15, sometime between 5:30 and 6:45 pm. A woman briefly left her apartment, which is on President Street between Clinton and Court streets, but when she came back someone had broken into her front door and stolen hundreds of dollars worth of gold jewelry, a digital camera, her laptop, and an iPod.

Gym rats
Perps broke into at least two lockers at a popular gym at the intersection of Court Street and Atlantic Avenue recently, taking advantage of exercisers who don’t think to bring a lock to protect their belongings.

The first crime happened on March 11 just before 9 pm, when a perp stole a woman’s purse and quickly used her credit cards. The thief also nabbed her wallet, precious stone rings, and Blackberry.

The second incident happened on Feb. 17, but the victim told cops he didn’t know he had to make a police report. The man had put his wallet in a locker, but when he came back several hours later, it was gone and the thief had already racked up $2,000 in charges on his credit cards.

Dry heaves
A perp tried to loot an Atlantic Avenue office on March 11, but was foiled when cleaning crews were still there working at 8:30 pm. The man had already climbed through a dropped ceiling and broken through the sheetrock, but when he entered the office, which is in a building between Smith and Hoyt streets, the cleaners took one look at him and called the cops.

Smokin’
A perp stole $2,440 worth of cigarettes from an Atlantic Avenue drugstore on March 12. The incident happened at 9:45 am as the store manager was unloading cigarette shipments in front of the store, which is at Third Avenue, when she noticed that a box of 30 cartons was missing. When she looked at the store’s surveillance video, she noticed that a man had grabbed the box and ran westbound on Atlantic Avenue.

A real dough-nut
A perp held up a coffee and donut shop on Bond Street at gunpoint on March 14, demanding cash from the safe and terrorizing customers. The incident happened just before 8 am at the store, which is between Livingston and Fulton streets. Witnesses told cops the man was wearing a green medium-length winter coat, a black ski cap, and a ski mask. He entered the store and walked to the employee’s backroom, pulled out a gun, and said, “Where is the safe? Get the stuff out of the safe.” One witness opened the safe and the man grabbed $2,400 and assorted payroll checks, and raced out of the store.

At WABC, Weber covered the 2001 falling of the Twin Towers from the scene.

“He worked all over the country, but when he got to Brooklyn, he adopted it. He knew more about Brooklyn than the natives,” Sliwa said.

Weber was remembered fondly in his neighborhood.

Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens

There was quite the crime at a Fourth Place apartment building this week — a perp ransacked four apartments and tried to burgle two others, and still escaped after the escapade. There were also two lesser — but no less important — crimes in the area this week. Check back in Tuesday afternoon for updates from Boerum Hill.

The Wham-burglar
In a really gutsy, apartment-wide ransack, a burglar broke into at least four apartments in a Fourth Place apartment building on March 9, and tried to break into at least two others.
The incidents happened around noon in the building, which is between Clinton and Court streets, witnesses told cops.
The man, who was carrying a red and black duffel bag, entered the building through the window of a ground floor apartment and worked his way upstairs, looting three apartments and escaping onto the roof. Cops believe he ultimately climbed down the fire escape, and one witness said she said him running toward Court Street.
In his first apartment, the 29-year-old victim said the perp stole a DVD set and his iPod. In the second apartment, the thief swiped a 37-year-old woman’s $3,000 black pearl necklace and earring set, a watch, her digital camera, and a laptop, after rummaging around the full apartment.
When the man made it to the third floor, he knocked on one door at around 11:25 am, but the resident was home and asked who it was. “Is Joe there?,” the man allegedly said — and the woman said no, kept her door shut, and then heard him banging around upstairs. She then saw him in her peephole running up the stairs, carrying the duffel bag. Another woman on the same floor told cops the same thing happened to her.
The fourth-floor tenant then told cops she was missing two laptops, and that her front door was kicked in.
The perp kicked in another door on the fourth floor, but didn’t take anything from that apartment, its occupant said.
Cops said they found a broken hatch on the roof door and that the ground floor tenants had not locked their windows. Because the job was so thorough, cops believe the suspect is a repeat offender.
“This person has probably done this before and he probably knows what he’s doing, so we’ll try to get him before he does it again,” a source at the precinct said.

School daze
Cops arrested a high school student on March 5 after he beat up a security officer who tried to prevent him from leaving the building.
The incident happened at 10 am when the boy, who is a student at Cobble Hill High School on Baltic Street, between Hoyt and Smith streets, tried to leave school. The female guard held strong, but the 17-year-old student pushed her and twisted her wrist. An ambulance took her to the hospital, and cops took the kid to the precinct.

A bad feeling
And in a final, very sick crime, a perp stole a man’s $1,100 pinky ring and wallet from his hospital room while he was having surgery. The patient left his room at a hospital on Hicks Street around 4 pm on March 7 for the procedure, but when he returned the next morning, he noticed that his belongings were missing from his room. Cops said they are investigating what happened.
