Tug and Barge Week Starts at Pier 6

The historic tug Pegasus and Lehigh Valley Barge 79 are berthed at Pier 6, Brooklyn Bridge Park (foot of Atlantic Avenue), ready for the activities scheduled for this weekend and the following week. Information about “Tug and Barge Week” is here. More photos and text follow the jump.

Great day for the Atlantic Antic

The Atlantic Antic was one of the most crowded in years, and the near perfect weather was certainly to thank for that. There was food, music, and entertainment galore- and I even got to catch Mr. G and Kaity Tong (from WPIX News) introducing Kings County DA Charles Hynes. Read on for some photos of the day.

Improv Everywhere had over 2,000 members walking invisible dogs in Cobble Hill yesterday, and pictures from participants are posted here and here. The leashes were borrowed from the new Invisible Dog Gallery at 51 Bergen Street.

Gossip Girl invades Cobble Hill

The telltale sign of trailers on Court and Wyckoff Streets let Cobble Hill residents know that something is up. After speaking with three different people associated with the trailers, I learned that they belonged to no other than hit television show Gossip Girl. Today, they’re filming on Clinton Street at the Clinton Cafe (just a few months ago they took over the Brooklyn Inn). I can almost hear the stampede of the Packer students right now…

Large Cobble Hill Turnout This morning

The line wrapped around the block this morning at PS29, where neighborhood residents showed up early to vote in this year’s election. After waiting in line for 45min, we were informed that if we knew our district (we did), that we could skip the lines and walk right in. Vote cast, democracy prevails.

Tip of the day — figure out your district before showing up, it’ll save you an hour!
