Luxury 85-Unit Rental Coming To Boerum Hill @ 316 Bergen Street

A new 85-unit luxury rental development is coming to Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill, one block from the border of Park Slope. Partners the Naftali Group and AEW Capital Management recently closed on a 90,000-square-foot site at 316 Bergen Street, at the corner of Third Avenue for $6.7 million. The eight-story building—with 45 residential parking spaces on the ground level—will include an attended lobby, health club, resident lounge, courtyard, storage and a roof deck with cabanas, sunbeds, a grill and dining area, with 360-degree views of Brooklyn and Manhattan, according to building reps.

The development is also in the vicinity of a Whole Foods market recently approved at Third Street and Third Avenue, next to the Gowanus Canal; and within walking distance to the 585-acre Prospect Park Continue Reading →

Brooklyn Lyceum’s Holiday Marketplace

Though not quite in Cobble Hill, the folks at Brooklyn Lyceum (227 4th Avenue) will be holding their third annual Holiday Marketplace this weekend. There will be crafts, food and art for sale… and a batting cage. Kids can get their photos taken with Santa or enjoy some Charlie Brown’s Christmas.

The market will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 7pm.  More information can be found here.

Donate at the Gowanus Toy Drive

The Gowanus Neighborhood Association has partnered up with councilman Stephen Levin to launch the First Annual Toy Drive,  The Cobble Hill Association tells us. The drive will benefit the economically strained families of the community, allowing more children to have holiday gifts this year.

Bring your safe, unopened toys to the councilman’s district office at 410 Atlantic Avenue t Bond Street from 10am to 5pm Monday through Friday to benefit an underprivileged local child ages 1 to 12 years old. For more details, contact Betty Lester at bejay919@yahoo.com or 718-243-1252.

EPA Fingers Facilitator for Gowanus Group

From our friends at the EPA: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 2 is pleased to announce that Jeffrey Edelstein of Edelstein Associates has been selected by the Gowanus community to act as the neutral facilitator for the Gowanus Canal Community Advisory Group.  Mr. Edelstein is a professional environmental engineer with 20 years of expertise in storm water, wastewater and the Clean Water Act. He holds a BS. from Cornell University’s School of Biological and Environmental Engineering, and has trained in public policy dispute resolution at the Muskie School of Public Service, the University of Southern Maine Mediation Institute, the Consensus Building Institute, and the Lincoln Center for Land Policy.  In addition, Mr. Edelstein is on the national mediation/facilitation roster of the U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution (USIECR), and is actively involved in initiatives that help grow and improve the practice of Environmental Conflict Resolution. Mr. Edelstein will now begin to work with the communities impacted by the site to help form the Gowanus Canal Community Advisory Group.
