Update: Brooklyn Farmacy Open Soon

The rehabbed, renamed Brooklyn Farmacy is, as of Tuesday at 3 PM, expected to open to the public “in the next four to five hours,” according to one crew member. The “Fresh, Friendly, Local” locale was off-limits and crowded with workers, but some of the changes – the minty paint job and olde-tyme window lettering – are clearly visible from the exterior.

As previously noted, the Farmacy is current undergoing a renovation at the hands of the crew from Discovery Channel’s Construction Intervention.

Construction Intervention Comes to the Nabe

The Vermont Market and Pharmacy at Henry and Sackett has undergone quite a transformation since a 2008 NY Times piece noted an interior containing “a generation of clutter.” Lost City reported last year on the newly planned life of the Pharmacy space as “a kind of half-store, half-soda fountain.”

And now, it seems, the most radical overhaul of all is still to come. NYPD signs (see below) declare that Discovery Channel’s Construction Intervention will be in the neighborhood for the next week. Yesterday, the production team blacked out some of the building’s windows and the space saw heavy traffic throughout the day today.

The east side parking lane of Court Street is scheduled to be blocked off until May 5th, along with a number of surrounding side streets.

Construction Intervention’s latest episode featured the newly-opened Red Hook wine shop Botta di Vino – the episode will be re-aired this weekend.

Expect more updates to come as soon as this reporter can squeeze his way past the beefy security detail!
