Cobble Hill’s Enamoo Closes Shop

Smith Street’s Enamoo is closing. The owners of the store issued this statement to CHB:

Yes, we’re closing. :( The lease is up and the Landlord want us out. Our 10yr lease was getting cheap compared to what shop owners in the neighborhood are paying now. In short: money talks and we have to walk.

109 Smith St. has been our location when the comeback of this great neighborhood started. Our customers are the best and we hate to let go of our store. The future of enamoo is either as a wholesale or internet company.

We have a final sale all through January ending on the 30st. Everything can be had at great discounts. If you’ve always thought enamoo is a bit pricey, now’s your chance! Thank you!

We were first tipped off to the story by a Brownstoner post yesterday:

A reader sent in the above picture as well as word that the Cobble Hill boutique Enamoo closed up shop over the holidays. The boutique, which sold hand printed t-shirts, hoodies and antiques, had been in the neighborhood since 1999. As our tipster said, “Enamoo was such a charming store and it’s a shame to lose it.” No word on what is slated to replace it.

Enamoo’s website is still live.

That sucks. Hopefully we’ll get another soulless chain store or restaurant that can afford the inflated rents and service the needs of the Gen X breeders with their Parkers, Myles, Madison, et al.

is this the place that always had the antiques out on the sidewalk? and their stuff was wildly overpriced? if it’s the place i’m thinking of, i went in there once, saw the prices, said oh heck no, and retreated.
