The Smith-9th Street subway station serving Carroll Gardens and Red Hook is destined to remain closed until—yikes— April 2013. The Park Slope Stoop blog combed through MTA’s notes from its December Capital Program Oversight Committee Meeting and found that the station, which was originally scheduled to open spring 2012 and then fall 2012… is now at least four more months away.
Brownstoner reports that the station first closed in June 2011 as part of the Culver Viaduct rehab project. The project is now way over budget and, according to the MTA, the “contractor’s poor management, insufficient manpower and quality control, and other design issues” wreaked more havoc.
