Carroll Gardens: The Pilot

No, Capt. Sully isn’t our new nabe celebrity. Our friends at Carroll Gardens Diary this morning posted a pilot for a show called “Carroll Gardens” – the episode features numerous neighborhood landmarks, among them Esposito’s, Park Natural and Fairway. Enjoy!

I didn’t think it was too bad besides I like the idea and I think it has some potential. It’s no worse than what’s on network tv. Also it was kind of fun to see the neighborhood. Not all “new people of Carroll Gardens” represent a bad thing for the community. Encouraging re-growth ( new residents not new construction ) is needed in many areas. I think it’s great when people are willing to take a chance/make a move and help to revitalize a community. I’m all for restoring “old” buildings to their origional grandeur although most of the new construction I find a bit intrusive.

I wish all of you yupsters would leave our neighborhood and go “discover” another area. I hear the South Bronx is getting gentrified now. Grab your macbook find a great deal and convert all the bodegas to into overpriced latte factories for other transplants to enjoy.

The word yuppie and all of its offshoots died in the 1980s. Hate the new breed but for the love of God please don’t use that dumbass Y word.

For the record, I’m not a “yuppie” or a “hipster”. I don’t intentionally invade the space of others nor do I wish to displace anyone. My family and I co-exist and mind our own. Also, I’m not a dog owner. I am an aging Gen Xer happily raising my family in a wonderful community.

@ Mr Scrotto…I have found that most tv pilots sucked but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Who knows, CH may come back with a strong cast and hearty story line. I still say it has potential : )

Woops! Sorry Mr.Scotto…That extra letter was a typo and that was meant for landlord. But I do want to add that you shouldn’t be too hard on some of the newer residents. We don’t own Mac’s or I Pads/Pods/Books whatever they are and We don’t walk down the street texting or chatting on our cels. I do find those people quite annoying as they can turn a simple walk into a major ordeal. COEXIST and ENJOY!

This is pure drivil. I can say one thing for sure. I have lived in what is now called “Carroll Gardens” my entire life and I have never met anyone named Anton or Darla. If this piece of turd ever airs, I may have to move away to avoid the embarrassment.

I made it through about a minute of this before I threw up a little into my mouth.

These pretentious idiots and this awful show represent everything that’s wrong with the invasion of neighborhood. They think that they’re here making the TV show of their life in the big city and the people who have been here for generations are just funny talking extras. Everything is here to be discovered.

These are probably the same obnoxious jerks I recently overheard in the coffee shop saying the best way to find apartments in this neighborhood was to look for Italian last names on the Obituray page.

Let’s replace generations of culture and community with an ugly, corny version of Sex and the City.
    That’ll make a great neighborhood.

So I watched it again and it’s really not very good. “Sucks” I think is a little harsh. I’ve been a city resident for almost 30 years and I understand all too well how quickly things can change when a community becomes a hotspot…the new place to live, shop, eat. I honestly respect my neighbors especially the ones who have been here for a while and have witnessed the ups and downs. I’ll admit to being unnerved now that my neighborhood (BH) is considered a tourist destination. That’s not something I want to deal with on a daily basis. I also don’t want my neighboring communities to lose their appeal by being over run with extra traffic, useless shops and God forbid, ” pasty no culture (residents) from the cul de sacs”. Landlord that was too funny!

Anyway, I just want to say that I get it. I’m here from another big city and I promise not to open yet another coffee shop. LOL!!!
