The Daily News has a piece on couples who work together, featuring The Grocery‘s Sharon Pachter and Charles Kiely. The two are owners and chefs at the restaurant, and live around the corner. Could you spend all day and night working with your partner? Could you spend that much time with your partner, period?
“People look at the way we work and can’t believe that for 10 years we’ve spent all days and nights together,” she adds. “One of the secrets – we take turns giving in.”
My husband and I do our best when we work or serve together full time. We think it is a blessing.
I work in a company right now where the husband is the talent, and the wife came along because she was un-hirable in her previous field of work. Needless to say, it is a disaster and I am biding my time until either I force her out, or I quit.
My husband and I have worked together in some way for over 12 years. It works well when you can identify each others talents and listen to each other and respect each others opinions. It goes wrong when you don’t apply these things. If you treat the person as well as you would treat a great employee it works and and makes you a very strong couple. I have seem my friend relationships fall apart because of time away from each other when you share life and work together and you are passionate about it this will pass into your relationship.
