The Landmarks Preservations Committee will not reconsider their approval of Norah Jones’ window installment, despite complaints from neighbors that the windows are inconsistent with the building’s architecture and the demand for a public hearing.
YourNabe: Commission spokesperson Lisi de Bourbon told this paper Wednesday that there are no plans to hold a hearing on the Amity Street property between Clinton and Court streets regardless of complaints from the Cobble Hill Association and other concerned parties who believe that Jones’ new windows would be “out of character” in the landmarked block.
“We have no plans to have a hearing and there is no basis to rescind the existing approval,” de Bourbon said about the songstress’ request to install “ten new masonry openings” as well as “two-over-two double-hung windows within the openings” on the side of her home.

Of course because of her celebrity she got immediate approval from the Lame Preservation Committee. If it were regular joe schmoe it would be a hell to the no.So unfair. I never approved of a committee that tells someone what to do with the property they worked hard to earn yet alone one that shows such blatant favoritism.
well then you must be equally against the CBA having any input into what a private homeowner wants to do regarding renovations. i agree that the LPC is inconsistent with the hoops they force applicants to jump through, but they’re necessary to prevent developers from building monstrosities in the neighborhood. i don’t have a problem with the windows. i think CHA’s ego is hurt because they were “left out” of the discussion. oh, and it sounds like you got disapproved for something. full disclosure please….
