Sue Perette opens on Smith Street

The work that was going on at the former Cafe Dore space earlier this summer is complete, and Sue Perette is now open, with last night as its first night of service. What do you think about the name: play on “superette” or interesting moniker? Read on for the small menu.

Why, oh why must it be another bland mid-Atlantic/French place??!! Here’s a call to all you restaurant entrepreneurs: enough of these places in CH. We’ve got a lot, and they’re pretty good already. What about a great Korean place? Or Ethiopian? Or just a higher-quality Indian joint? A little variety would be nice – not just ever-pricier versions of what we’ve already got.

or How about a place that makes great American food. We have way to many Asian places in CH. I feel like I’m in Thailand . How about a place that makes great fish ? Salmon etc. This places main courses don’t sound great . They better rethink that real fast. I used to eat out a lot now there isn’t a damn good place to even order from

I strongly encourage you all to try it. I stumbled there last friday without knowing much about the place and with as much skepticism as anyone…it was absolutely terrific. A total gem. One of the best restaurants to open in Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens in years. Great cooking.

You should definitely not comment on this restaurant until you try it – because you will only have great things to say. The food is delicious and the staff very friendly, and as far as I am concerned, a welcome inclusion to our neighborhood of so many very average restaurants!!! Wouldn’t you prefer a great new restaurant than another so-so establishment of a less represented cuisine???
