Eagle Profiles New CHA Prexy

The Brooklyn Eagle profiles Jeff “Hussein” Strabone, the new president of the Cobble Hill Association:

Brooklyn Eagle: An English literature lecturer and Ph.D. candidate at New York University, Strabone moved to Cobble Hill from Manhattan in 1998. “I was living quite shabbily in Manhattan,” he remembered. “It was basically the Garment District, above a sausage factory. I decided I needed a better space.”

He found a place for sale on Baltic Street. Then in his 20s, Strabone thought he was too young to buy property, but “the price was right” and he liked the neighborhood.

“Everything they have in Manhattan we have in Brooklyn, but not to the exaggerated extent,” he explained. “I’m not dissing Manhattan, but I like it here. It’s lively without being overwhelming.”
