CHB Confirms Alex McCord’s Cobble Hillbilly-ness
Using our SUPERPOWERS aka Google, Wikipedia and Photoshop we have definitive proof that Real Housewives of New York’s Alex McCord does indeed live within the boundries of Cobble Hill. CHB community member “A Real Cobble Hill housewife” had disputed this fact last week:
She’s real, but she’s not ours. Alex McCord does not live in Cobble Hill. She lives on Butler Street in Boerum Hill, a wonderful neighborhood in its own right.
As you can see McCord lives in Cobble Hill (Green Area). We’ve dubbed the area between Atlantic, Warren, Smith & Court as the “DMZ” since both Cobble and Boerum Hills claim that turf as their own (depending on who you’re talking to, what day it is and how much you’ve had to drink).

what are they doing in school anyway??? Aren’t they tiny? And if they have a full time au pair, why pack the petits off to school?? Oh, that’s right—Mummy and Daddy have such demanding jobs. After all, you gotta get up pretty early to train it over to Manhattan to dress those windows or make sure there are no newspapers left lying about in the hotel lobby. Then there’s the after-work run to Loehman’s and Daffy’s—-simply no time to be avec les garcons.

Where did you get your map? It is the first one I have ever seen that shows these neighborhood divisions.
Cobble Hill is a rectangle bound by Atlantic, Hicks, Degraw and Court, except for a carveout for Long Island College Hospital. See http://www.nyc.gov/html/lpc/downloads/pdf/maps/cobble_hill.pdf

The LPC map is of the cobble hill historic district. CHB’s map is of generally accepted boundries applied by residents etc and other sources besides lpc. we looked at many sources including wikipedia, real estate sites, nyc websites. no one agrees on the boundries and extending cobble hill to smith street (which allows McCord to claim she’s from Cobble Hill) is particularly “controversial”.

Interesting tidbit: Looked up McCord’s Butler Street house on propertyshark.com and they seem to be beyond their eyeballs in debt. They purchased the unimpressive townhouse for 1.2 mill and took out three or four mortgages totalling over 2 million. Check it out. Seems they are funding their lifestyle with borrowed cash. It will bite them you-know-where someday.

Which house is theirs on Butler? Propertyshark search didn’t work for me.
I don’t see how they could mortgage it that much. But what’s interesting is that the salary range running a hotel of 100 rooms barely touches $200K, and if she makes over $100K I’d be astounded. So I’m beginning to think the clothes they wear are undisclosed product placements. I don[t see how they can afford clothes on those salaries, though it explains why the house is a shambles.
Propertyshark doesn’t list either a van kempen or a mccord, show how’d you find it?

Some more interesting dirt on Ms. McCord. Contrary to what the show would have you believe, her kids are not in private school, but a very public one here in Cobble Hill.
